Addon a3_characters_f not found
Reviewed, NormalPublic

Description

Hello,

since the Arma 3 update 1.66 for dedicated servers it appears an issue in the rpt log of the server, that the addon a3_characters_f cannot loaded in. But the addon pack (characters_f.pbo) exist in the addons folder.

So the rpt log shows me following message:

18:51:59 Warning Message: You cannot play/edit this mission; it is dependent on downloadable content that has been deleted. a3_characters_f

Edit:
We fixed the issue with the endless reloading of the mission. It was an error with a texture.

But we tried some more, we unbinarized the mission and delete the addon from the required addon array.
The test with that unbinarized mission have the same issue like before.

Regards,
Cris

Did you try verifying the integrity of the game cache on the server to fix any missing or corrupt files?

Did you try verifying the integrity of the game cache on the server to fix any missing or corrupt files?

I also see this warning message in my server's RPT logs even after verifying the cache several times.

Version: 1.66.139586

@razazel and @Dwarden, attached is a copy of an arma3server.rpt file with -checkSignatures:

This Arma 3 Server was a clean install via the Steam client. Verify integrity of tool cache was performed after it downloaded.

cfgPatches/units[] is configured faulty, or mess up in cfgAddons/preloadAddons

Broken on Linux too, verified from cache and refetched /addons/ from steam. Also getting weird side effect where mods are listed as loaded, but have no hashes.

Hosting from a game client seems to work correctly.. what's going on?

Server Output for a vanilla install

@Giggaflop, could you please edit your comment by replacing the wall of text with an attached file? To add files, drag and drop them into the comment text area.

I've also got the same issue mentioned here on my Linux server as well. I've deleted & redownloaded the addons/ directory and verified cache too for good measure, but still the error appears.

It's a vanilla install, (no mods, only mpmission files) and currently running the latest 1.66 install available on Steam.

This warning message is still appearing in version 1.68.140365 RC01. Integrity of game cache was verified.

Any updates on this? Still appears in the performance build 168_14094

Same for our gaming community on multiple dedicated server instances. No impact on functionality observed so far besides this warning message.

Did anyone has this resolved?

I have the same issue which is completely disallowing me to use any custom missions.

I don't think it has been unfortunately and with no responses, it's starting to look like it won't be resolved...

Could you please check the latest RC build to see whether this was fixed?

@razazel Where can I obtain this new build (Linux build specifically)?

Hey @razazel, looks like the issue is still there, though either the build is a bit dodgy or something has gone wrong my end because right at launch I get a segfault and instant crash, so I'm going to trying and figure what when wrong, then I'll see if this issue still occurs.

The segfault was likely happening before I switched to the RC branch though (I just may have not realised because GNU screen didn't display it, would so explain my other recent troubles... anyway), so the segfault probably is something my end.

@Cris You said above your's is fixed which turned out to be an error with a texture, Can you provide more details regarding that?

Resolved all my issues that I had, but this problem is still occuring. I'd love for this to be sorted so I can automate mission loading.

Still in 1.72.142342

I'm still seeing the warning message in the arma3server*.rpt file as of version 1.76.142872.

Warning also in RPT after 1.76 Hotfix

I doubt this will ever get fixed now.

I didn't see anyone mentioning this yet.. A3_Characters_F is listed properly inside CfgPatches. It is there. But it is still shown that it's missing.
So the issue is not a missing or corrupt file.

Still not working with the latest updated version of arma3server on Linux Server (Ubuntu 16.04 LTS)
