I agree, this would make it easier to capture that perfect sunrise/sunset moment for INFIL.
The modders do great work, but one of the reasons the game is broken is because of conflicting mods. If BI release a British Armed Forces DLC pack, we get a fully supported fraction and BI get more money for futher development of the game.
BI has recently released a roadmap for 2016 and it shows that they are working on the Eden Editor, Tanoa, VTOL and Light Strike Vehicles. So, I don't see why this idea should be discarded, not all their work involves fixing bugs.
This is also happening with mortars.
The AI shouldn't smash into buildings in any mode.
Dslyecxi made an excellent video about the action menu and the problems it causes
Hopefully next time round it will be replaced with something that is easier to use.
I glad I'm not the only one that checks the phase of the moon before a mission. I hope this issue gets sorted soon.
I recall watching a documentary about a special forces unit using crossbows to kill targets in a watchtower. (Unable to find source - thanks YouTube).
I don't understand why people downvote requests such as this one. If BI add crossbows to the game you won't be forced to use them. ARMA 3 is a open world game that enables the player to decide how they want to experience combat.
Please don't recommed people play C* of D* it's a silly rail-like shooter that offers no freedom.
AK-47, M4, spoon, M203 or crossbow, a kill is a kill.

I know some people have already mentioned this, but comments can become lost in a long thread (hint hint BI).
@freexavier, try using MCC and Zeus as a 3D editor. I know this isn't a perfect solution, but that's the Arma way. I hope this helps a few tortured souls, torture a few AI terriost scum.
