I experience the very same thing, although it only seems to happen when your backpack isn't completely full.

In addition to this, if you have an almost full backpack and a few 4 slot items (med pack/ammo box/yellow box) you quite often will lose one of the 4 slot items in the movement.

Only seems to be the backpacks.

Have also noted this on multiple occasions.

The simple fix for the moment is just to re-log. (resets animation?)

Log-in screen still affected as of 114008.

It now resets back to the usual log-in screen when you log in and out of a server.

Removing "-nosplash - nointro" from the launch options fixes this issue.

As of 133822 this has only been happening on the log-in screen.

Also the fix no longer works. I have to load into a server and then back out to be able to see my character on the log-in screen.

Also note; "#vote restart" also works to instantly restart the server with no privileges.

Additional info: It seems to be more responsive if you are standing still.

Also; Draging and dropping a weapon into your hands is still very responsive even when this issue is very apparent on the server, and the [X] to remove from hands responds well under the same conditions; so it's most likely a hot-bar issue.
