Didn't encounter a game crash, but i confirm having a beret and entering a server pops up the error message.
Maybe not a real bug, but while DayZ is a survival simulation, i think it must stick as close as possible to reality. This is why i upvote this :)
This is a bug tracker, features requests must be proposed in forums.
Duplicate issue here http://feedback.dayzgame.com/view.php?id=5598
The respawn issue is maybe not related to the previous one.
Someone proposed a solution here : http://feedback.dayzgame.com/view.php?id=7030
I hope this is intentional only if chased zombie is bleeding.
Totally agree with this solution. The only drawback is that there's no safe way to log out.
Eve Online handles this problem in a similar way, except that you can safely dock in a station and log off without a timer (but in space you have a 1mn timer)

Experienced the same problem...
This is not a bug ! Cool idea but still voting down the issue. Game enhancements must be proposed in forum.
Experienced the same problem, 7/10fps in electro (according to fraps) :
i7 3770k 3.5Ghz
GTX 660 TI 2GB
8GB RAM
Win 7 Pro
Changing settings doesn't affect perf (i even lowered my screen resolution). From my side, perf seems worst since last update...
[edit] I succeeded to improve my fps by editing my config file this way :
DayZ.cfg :
GPU_MaxFramesAhead=1;
GPU_DetectedFramesAhead=1;
--------
user.DayZProfile :
sceneComplexity=150000;
shadowZDistance=100;
viewDistance=1800;
preferredObjectViewDistance=1000;
terrainGrid=12.5;
----
Launch game command :
-nosplash -noPause -cpuCount=4 -exThreads=7 -maxMem=6144
Prior to editing this file i disabled most of effects ingame. But finally, i think sceneComplexity is the most efficient setting to override (was set to 500 000 before editing).
In cities i have now about 35fps, and walking around hills give me like 50/60fps. Still not a lot according to my CPU and GPU usual perf with others games.
