This is because reflections are not generally an actual reflection. Using real reflection can cause major performance issues.

Maybe the option to turn on real reflections or mapped reflections in settings would be appropriate, but unnecessary.

Disagree with first two. I think the third is ok, because, realistically, you don't know. However, some sort of visual hints may be nice. Overall, have to vote down, though.
