I finally cracked the code. I found an unrelated topic on reddit with a user having another sound issue, that apparently transcended into not being able to hear specific sounds. It is an issue between the Steelseries software and (not knowing if exclusively for Arctis 7) the Arctis 7 headset. I disabled other programs ability to take control of the headset in the windows sound config, and now it is solved.
