Items removed from inventory (into Vicinity tab) disappear, then become visible again after reconnect
Assigned, WishlistPublic

Description

Sometimes when items are moved from your inventory onto the ground (vicinity) they disappear (i.e. cannot be seen on on the ground/other surface and aren't visible in the vicinity tab). If you disconnect and reconnect to the same server items appear floating in the air and can be picked up again.

Edit: sometimes items appear of the ground if you move away from the spot where you dropped them and wait for a few seconds.

I've experienced this issue numerous times.

Experienced in 113822. Almost every single time I drop an item this happens. I have to run away form the item and slowly approach the area I dropped it for it to re-appear.

  • I can confirm it's not due to 'lagg'
  • I can confirm it happens on every single server on patch 113822, didn't happen that much on 113722.

When I drop an ammo crate or a med pack, I simply stand still and wait for the server to catch up and spit it back out. After a short time it pops up just fine in vicinity. This behavior is very consistent.

yeah, can confirm it takes a while. no need to reconnect. seems to be an issue with server responsibility

So,
It could be caused by server consistency being bad (Not ping related, as picking up items are instant)

However, this behaviour was not present as much in 113722 as it is in 113822. Can anyone else confirm that?

There were delays in 722, especially with full cases dropped, but it does seem to be much worse since.

Can confirm relog needed in 113822

Relogging is not needed, the item will appear after a while (though it sometimes can take a VERY long time). It's because the scheduler on the server is overloaded, you can see similar issues in ArmA2 as well when too much is going on.

My friends and I dropped some loot and it magically appeared where I picked the original item up, happened twice to us

That in particular is the vicinity system being buggy in what it will display. When many things are in the same place, much of it can disappear. Spread your loot piles out to avoid that.

confirmed on my client as well. If I drop the item and stay in my inventory the item will usually appear on the ground within a minute or so.

Just had this happen at SW military base in one of the barracks. 75rnd drum and fnx mag disappeared when dropped. waited around to see if they would appear again, after 15 minutes or so they had not. Logged out and back in and they were there again. on stable 45.124426

Same thing happens on 0.50.125144 Experimental.

Yes, same thing happened on 0.50.125144 Experimental.

Though it only happened with Pistols and Revolvers for me. My Magnum and a Colt 1911 Engraved have both disappeared this way, though the Magnum I was able to bring back by restarting. The amount of clutter(other items) and uneven ground could also contribute to this occurrence.

Why do I like this buggy piece of crap so much.........

confirmed for .50.125144 experimental. I hope they fix this before this hits stable today but I do not expect this.

Andy, Steward, brace yourselves for the flood of claims that items got lost when dropped -.-
