Can confirm, also crashing for me on Debian. Players join and get to role select, hit continue, and then session lost and server restarts.
Same issue for me keep crashing with message:
bad animation file format in file acts_starterpistol_in.rtm
Confirmed. Same issue. Deleting and verifying doesn't work. Launching with -mod=curator;kart;heli;etc.... does not help either.
bad animation file format in file:
a3/anims_f_kart/data/anim/sdr/cts/starterpistol/acts_starterpistol_in.rtm
See, I'm not getting any errors about any animation files. I'm getting a TON of these errors in my CLIENT rpt though
11:42:33 control[CA_ServerDetailExpansion]: Unexpected control type [0]
Server RPT is as clean as a whistle.
My server RPT log is clean as well. Don't have a chance to get a client RPT though. Crashes before the server even reads the mission. Maybe because my servers either use Karts or have the arsenal in them, resulting in the use of the karts DLC. Your mission list may not use them.
Confirm server crash with following error popup:
Bad animation file format in file 'a3\anims_f_kart\data\anim\sdr\cts\starterpistol\acts_starterpistol_in.rtm'.
Crash happens as client is loading mission.
This is running no mods, and loading a stock mission (Escape from Altis)

To fix the problem, download the server with STEAM, not STEAMCMD!
(wanna thank me? vote for my tickets :D)

"Crash happens as client is loading mission.

Same here.
The bad animations have always been in our rpt files. I don't think this is causing the crash.
The crash seems to be not being reported in the rpt files or console
SINE, that is not possible with a lot of people. They should download the same version anyways
Confirm.
Bad animation file format in file 'a3\anims_f_kart\data\anim\sdr\cts\starterpistol\acts_starterpistol_in.rtm'.
SINE, this is not a solution
Confirm server crash with following error popup:
Bad animation file format in file 'a3\anims_f_kart\data\anim\sdr\cts\starterpistol\acts_starterpistol_in.rtm'.
Crash happens while Server is "reading mission".
still not a viable solution as I already said a lot of servers can not be updated that way
just copy this files from local to server
kart/Addons/anims_f_kart.pbo
heli/Addons/cargoposes_f_heli.ebo
solved for me
@SINE
it's not an option for linux OS
Just like the last update - does BI even have a Quality management system ?
The solution posted by uncle_fedor was also the solution for me as well. Apparently, they broke the updater?
You can get them from here, if you need them (i know its unlikely to trust files from here, but they are if you want to).

https://paronity.com/i/cargoposes_f_heli.ebo
uncle_fedor's solution works for now. People can join our server again. Would be nice for BI to fix it though
Oh my gosh. THANKS uncle_fedor, you're the best!
You should get the money instead of BIStudio ;)
Your fix works for now, you're great thanks man!
Confirmed. The solution posted by uncle_fedor worked for me as well. Updating my servers with Steam versus SteamCMD is not an option for me, so this was a good temporary fix.
Thanks a lot for letting us know, we have deployed a hotfix that should address the issue. Sorry for the inconveniences.
Ran through SteamCMD again, downloaded additional files (which I assume to be the hotfix. Now I am getting an error regarding bad animation file format in file 'a3\cargoposes_f_heli\anim\passenger_bench_1aim.rtm'
Edit: Uploading the local carogposes_f_heli file fixed this.
http://feedback.arma3.com/view.php?id=22907#c88528 this is the current fix.
The only fix is: http://feedback.arma3.com/view.php?id=22907#c88528
Updating with steamcmd (also validating it) not working at all.
Issue seems to go away once the Huron is removed from the mission. Heli DLC seems to be the issue for my servers.
It appears the install I get from steamCMD for servers goes to a file directory separate from game data I get through steam, which is client side. How do I do verify this information through steam?
Update was made this morning on our server ... we have errors on P3D files again.
Even with vanilla coop missions ...
Have been using the fix supplied earlier, recently updated once again with steam CMD, this seems fixed.
Hello,
does the issue still persist for you? We have checked the data sent to Valve servers and no such errors should be occurring. Please let me know, thank you very much.
Maybe on dedicated server side but not on client side. 0009204

Is this issue still valid? It is 2 years old. I don't see why this is still major priority.
