m14 EBR, is a US Armed Forces Weapon, and is Manufactured Here in the US by the US
Closed, ResolvedPublic

Description

M14 EBR(Dont question me as I used to own one personally, while I was stationed @ FT. BRAGG, though mine was Springfield Armory, and I shipped all but the stock to Fulton Armory to convert to EBR/SAGE)
Is a United States Weapon, Built here in the US, by the US, Fulton Armory, Springfield Armory, just to name a couple ways in how to purchase one here in the US for civilian usage.
Multiple US companies have defense contracts with the US to build the EBR in question.

However you folks have it as an IRANIAN weapon...given the tension between Iran and NATO do you really think it's plausible for US made and contracted weapons to be a standard weapon used by IRAN?

If you do feel that the EBR belongs in any but NATO forces hands/loadouts then by all means please explain your logic.

I know this is alpha but you folks are all about authenticity right????
Fix it please, kind of a slap in the face to Veterans and current Service Members alike when things like this are done incorrectly, like how Hollywood cant figure out how to put a freaking Beret on a soldier's head in their films... This is all being said with soooo much love for BIS by the way, so please don't take it the wrong way, I'm sure it was an honest mistake.

Iran, like China, loves to copy weapons, making cheaper versions of them. It is very plausible, seeing the accuracy and overall use of the M14 (beautiful weapon) that the Iran would love to copy it.
USA did that for a weapon's model (I don't remember which) who was fit to accept AK styled magazines and ammunitions, so that spec ops would never run out when behind ennemy lines (during cold war).

Appropriate weapon availability is important, but at this stage I don't consider it that high of a priority. Additionally, many US arms have been available and used by foreign militaries, even hostile militaries, for decades; it is not unreasonable to assume that Iran has access to specific models of m14s and copies as Shyrke2a has said.

As a side note, Hollywood is actually obligated to not have accurate representations of military personnel in fictional movies; this is why uniforms on military personnel in movies are, usually, not entirely proper.

Calm your nips. Not that big of a deal. Definitely not a major issue.

I can understand getting the weapons correct, but really... at this stage in the game this is less than minor

Besides having a faction use a weapon is totally different from having them create it

I'd imagine this would be along the lines of the Takistani Army using G3s, FALs, or M16s. Granted it's a significantly different scenario.

Agreed but not a major issue!
Low priority IMO

To clarify, this is an alpha. The final weapon sets for each side are not complete, and as such, the M14 has been given to the opfor side for balance. Factions are not complete, and were just given some weapons for now, as the alpha does not have a lot of opfor weapons.

F-14 Tomdog(Dont question me as I used to own one personally, while I was stationed @ FT. BRAGG, though mine was Springfield Armory, and I shipped all but the stock to Fulton Armory to convert to F16 Fishbed)

Is a Tom Cruise Jet, Built here in the great Soviet Union, by the Ukrainians, Fulton Armory, Springfield Armory, just to name a couple ways in how to purchase one here in the US for civilian usage.
Multiple Russian companies have defense contracts with the Ukraine to build the F14 in question.

However, nowadays it operates as an IRANIAN weapon...given the tension between Iran and NATO do you really think it's plausible for Chinese made and contracted weapons to be a standard weapon used by IRAN?

If you do feel that the F-14 Catdog belongs in any but Russian forces hands/loadouts then by all means please explain your logic.

I agree with this and I am an owner of this rifle with a Sage stock, it should not be an Iranian weapon it should be U.S.

i think they made 2 DM rifles, but both BLUFOR, so to not make another for OPFOR they split them so both sides where equal in weapon classes

On co-op servers that allow you to change weapons I always use th EBR, because it's my favorite weapon. But I use it with the Russian scope (I guess it's Russian?).

Im pretty sure that the Iranians have the EBR for balancing the guns for each
faction side and when the game comes out of beta they will probably will have some other gun thats correct for irans forces

As this isn't based in present day, it makes sense that they might possibly have these arms from a previous alliance against another faction.

Alternate future setting, creative license to do as they please.

Wait for full release to get the explanation you feel so entitled to. And stop with the pathetic guilt trip.

@ Trauma.au -This is not a #$@%ing chatroom, nor am I guilt tripping anyone, we ALL presumably INVESTED into the Alpha and are SUPPORTING ArmAIII's development, correct me if I'm wrong but what I have to say is no more important or less important or valid/invalid than any input/FEEDBACK anyone else has on here, it's a @$%$ing ALPHA! FEEDBACK IS #&$@ING IMPORTANT/NEEDED IN ORDER TO HAVE A WELL POLISHED FINAL BUILD. Get off my ass and go find some bugs and stop talking crap to people over the internet regarding FEEDBACK, go to the forums and talk crap, dont clog up FEEDBACK with your unfounded opinions of people you dont even know.

THIS FEEDBACK ISSUE IS A DEAD HORSE WE ALL GET IT, STOP ADDING NOTES.

BUT GOING ON INTO FEEDBACK FOR THE DURATION OF ALPHA AND BETA, STOP, I REPEAT STOP! TREATING THIS LIKE FACEBOOK, WITH ALL THESE "COMMENTS", UNLESS IT'S "I CONFIRM THIS BUG", "I'M ON SETUP ______ I'M NOT HAVING THE ISSUE, HAVE YOU TRIED ____?"...YOU KNOW HOW ALPHA TESTING USUALLY GOES DONT YOU? GET YOUR HEADS OUT OF YOUR REARS AND FOCUS ON FINDING BUGS/ISSUES/GATHERING FEEDBACK. IF YOU DONT AGREE WITH FEEDBACK GIVEN BY _____ VOTE THE ISSUE DOWN, DONT BE A DOUCHE FOR THE SAKE OF BEING A DOUCHE, BETTER YET GO TO THE FORUMS TO MAKE YOUR SOCIAL MEDIA/FACEBOOK STYLE INTERNETZ PWNZOR LEET I'M BETTER THAN EVERYONE ELSE COMMENTS AND STOP CLOGGING UP FEEDBACK WITH YOUR BS.

/endrant

Jeez relax, I was giving you my interpretation as to why they gave Iran the EBR.

I did down vote as I disagree, I also had an answer that I think was valuable and I will not hesitate to call out BS when I see it. That's what I limited my comment to.

Claiming that someone is wronging vets because they put this item there is a guilt trip attempt.

Chill Reclusive, lol.

@ Trauma.au,
Dude ask anyone of any current or former profession how they cringe when they see mistakes of this level when someone or something depicts their current of former profession, sure it's a knee-jerk reaction, but it's there, I had something to say about it as FEEDBACK normally is, THE END, had I known this was a facebook comments section I'd have made the issue private from the get go.

What's funny is I bring this up, and people say "oh but creative license and it's 2035", but someone brings up female units and OHHHH SHIT NO YOU DIDNT! NOT IN MY ARMA NO SIR, FEMALES DONT BELONG IN ARMA! RAWR!

Yet the JCOS lifted the ban on females in combat roles and SOCOM roles(and the US isn't the first to do so), so many double standards on here I swear. Just going to keep all issues private now, because people dont know how to just give YES OR NO, CONFIRM OR NOT CONFIRMED, TYPES OF NOTES, is the majority "new" to alpha testing or QA???

FFS anyone with any sense knows they can create custom units with whatever weapon/kit they want, or set cargo to hold whatever bag of tricks they desire, even if the M14 or MK200 were set in stone Iranian weapons(which they arent they're just placeholders), it's an easy user fix, but for authenticity's sake let's not have a wait and see attitude, for the final build's sake let's seriously not have a wait and see attitude.

NO MORE NOTES/COMMENTS PLEASE, IT'S DONE THE ISSUE IS DEAD, GO ELSEWHERE, BYE BYE

GO ELSEWHERE, BYE BYE

No.

You are clearly overreacting and not realizing that not all M14s are US made. Norinco has been making M14 for ages now and it's quality is actually better than many American M1A abominations.

Agreed with aop. :/ people here are trying to point out why.

I agree the weaponry is currently a clusterf**k.

I don't mind the M14 to be part of Iranian armory, but the first time I saw this I wondered. I thought the AI picked some downed soldiers gun, but then realized it was their own. I thought it looked somewhat out of place. Perhaps a pimped FAL would be a better choice? Keep the M14 for the US forces specialists.

Ya this kinda pissed me off I leave these guns and I only found it when checking an OPfor body and was stunned I know it just one weapon but what happens when they add 100 more to the game and this problem isnt addressed?

We are very sorry, this issue was closed as duplicate or no-bug.

The scenario of the game is set in the future and it may not match with reality.
