Melee Balance 1.22 Experimental
Assigned, NormalPublic

Description

Wood splitting axe (not the hatchet) needs one heavy attack and one light attack on infected now.

1.21 and previous it was one hit.

Knife also needs one heavy and one light as before. Axe should definitely hit harder.

I noticed in the types file other blunt weapons were nerfed also.
Good Luck finding a sledge now..
70 down to 20.... insane.
one of my fav zombie killers until I get an axe or pistol with a suppressor

It's fine by me if they nerf the blunt ones against zeds but we need a one hitter like axe or pick axe. Would be a shame if axe and knife are the same. Knife would be even better cause it swings faster.

Blunt ones are more fun now against players in the current state. Like that change.

yeah, there needs to be a weapon that can 1 hit infected. Because of the PvP element. I'd hate to have to deal with infected forever in hot areas , where's a PvP threat...

Being able to take out a zed or two before you lose all your stamina and get swarmed by broken AI is key in the game.

If there was a way to push away or shove through a hoard it would be less of an issue.
Project Zomboid does these mechanics pretty well. Though in Zomboid you don't have a jump option, so a different keybind would be needed for shoving... "B" I guess would work.. or remapping F23 to a mouse button.

But not being able to brute force through a zed or two doesn't make the game more challenging, makes it more of a annoyance.

The weight of these items already make them an item to decide to burden your stamina and storage space.

The knife slashing I always found weird..
The lack of blood spraying out of zeds makes the realism of them dieing to getting slashed just odd...
There really should be a forward stabbing animation like the stealth kill but without the left hand grabbing and faster..

The mechanics of Project Zomboid make really good use of AI and melee weapons. The only time I use guns in that game, is when I'm bored.

Sounds good. But I don't think it's that easy to do. I guess we will have to live with what we have until the new/reworked AI is coming. We need that first to work on zombie interaction.

It's not coming according to todays release notes.... at least for a long time.. :(

Damn. I've just read it. Then they shall give us one hitters! I would even add one like a Katana where a normal swing would kill them. Especially for areas like tisy you need that.

The actual melee mechanic needs a rework, every weapon is just a huge 180 degree swing. They need to add a new hitbox for the melee because currently you can hit someone in the foot and that damage is equal to one in the head, there is no thought just swinging. Just mindless mouse 1 stun lock garbage. Also why are the feat locked in place its not like i need percision

Agree that axes should oneshot (unarmored) infected or atleast be stronger than a knife, otherwise there is no incentive to carry the weight of a 2-handed melee weapon. Maybe give them a small damage multiplier against infected to keep the balance for pvp.

uhhgg... stun lock..
I got beat down with a crowbar while holding a repeater.(on 1.21)
Not being able to aim because weapon collision (your player is whining about a bruise is worse than taking the damage.) sucks worse.
I'd rather be KO from a sledge heavy hit, or a light hit throws me back but still being able to raise my weapon to aim.

Getting hit by a 11 pound sledge is HEAVY! You're gonna take some damage irl, most likely multiple broken bones.
