Description

It seems at the moment original default mines placed in the editor cant be defused by explosives expert UXO Engineer, not getting disarm X. Mines placed when in the mission can be disarmed.

The new mines that came with Laws of War can be defused, its all the older one inc the Naval mines
IED, or Slams, AP, trip, etc that can no longer be defused.

Steps To Reproduce

Try in the editor as the appropriate explosives expert UXO unit or Diver to defuse any of the vanilla Pre Laws Of War DLC mines.

Any mission with Naval mines that need defusing are broken & any with the pre Laws Of War mines also broken! !!!!!

I've got tickets a little over a year old that still haven't gotten any response.

@Wulf seems to be actively going through new-ish reports, though. He'll probably get to this one soon.

Hello.

Thank you for the report. I had a look at the mines and I was able to disarm all of them both the old and the new and with all explosive experts in Eden editor.

Explosives Specialist
Diver Explosive Specialist
Mine Specialist

All were able to disarm Naval mines, IEDs, Slams, AP, AT, Trip, etc.

Tested this in our stable and internal build. What were you doing exactly? Are you using any mods? Please create a test mission with the eden editor and upload it here or a video of the issue so that I can see what you were doing.

{F167359}Were you running Laws of War?
Tested with vanilla Arma 3 if you place the older say a slam or an AT mines in the editor from Props/weapons/explosives any where on the map when making a mission, then try as an explosives engineer you do not get the disarm X
Any mines you plant as that engineer you can disarm.
So any older missions with mines that need to be disarmed as tasks, are no longer playable.

Of course.

That is why I asked you for a video to see what you are doing differently or a test mission. Because from your description I am doing the same, but it works fine.

This may seem like an obvious question, but I will ask it anyway. Have you tried veryfing the cache or reinstalling the game? It is possible that some files got corrupted.

Just uploaded test mission or I think I did F167359

I checked with other players & they had the same.

I always verify the cache every update...

Made & tested running ArmA 3 Apex with all the DLC only.

As you can see the option to defuse the mine is available on the mine I placed down later. Yet it's unavailable on the mine jgaz pre-placed in the 3den editor as part of the mission file.

Ok, now I see where the problem is. You haven't detected the mine for some reason. My mine detector does this automatically, in your mission I can defuse all of your placed UXO, mines, etc.

If for some reason you can't deteck the mine automatically. Use the "T" key to mark the mine. After it is marked try disarming it.

OK I'll try that...

Didn't work pressed T when looking at the mine & when on top of it, nothing.
The mine detector works beep gets faster as you get nearer.

This has to be a bug you can see in Drift's Youtube clip the minedector is working & still not getting the disarm option.

Ok what difficulty are you using? Because if it is Veteran then this makes sense. On veteran difficulty there is no automatic detection by the mine detector, you have to use "T". Even then it will not show you the triangle this is just how this difficulty setting works.

So how do you know that the mine is marked and ready to be defused? Open your radar/mine detector using "[" "]" keys on your keyboard or whatever you have assignet to Left/Right Panel Next. Once opened crawl to the mine and use "T"(Which should be assigned for Reveal target in the controls option menu) until the mine on the detector changes into a different icon depending on the type of mine/UXO, then you should be able disarm it.

Here is what you should see on Veteran difficulty

We have always gamed with "There's a mine here" turned off, no Red triangles. As its not realistic at all, & never had a problem defusing any mine before the DLC Laws Of War.
Will try what you say, its just a pity LAW screwed it all up.

Tested & what you said & that seems to work intermittently. You have to keep doing the "reveal" over & over to get it to give the Disarm option on most mines, but it didn't work at all on some of the IED's.

What is a puzzle is the new "Laws Of War" mines work & disarm without a problem, so why not the older ones?

There are some missions where you only have so many seconds to defuse a mine or IED before it goes off & you don't have time to keep trying "Reveal" before it does!

What is more puzzling is that I am playing the build straight downloaded from steam and they all work for me I can disarm everything without a problem. Which makes this really an odd one.

Although kudos on this:

Indeed there is some oddity with the pontoon, will push that further down the line.
