BUG - Scope zoom in/Zoom out is intermittant after the patch

After the 1.66 patch, my ability to zoom in or zoom out while scoped is random at best. num pad +- have the same struggle as mouse buttons 4 and 5. i have tried other keys as well and still will not zoom as requested - sometimes it will, sometimes it wont. the only game type though is King of the Hill multiplayer. all other game modes it works as required.

this is the same senario for accepting a group invite from the player menu

Makes this game mode virtually unplayable for me...

Steps To Reproduce
  1. go into King of the hill server
  2. select a rifle and a multi zoom scope
  3. have your pawn ADS or scope up
  4. attempt to us the zoom to the next higher zoom setting
  5. observe that it may or may not work
  6. same for zooming down

selecting group invites

  1. select player menu
  2. select groups
  3. left click accept group invite
  4. observe that you cannot join group
  • this may have to do with new key binds - i declined and stayed with old binds, now i have this issue**

in every other game mode i have played it has worked correctly. it is only in KOTH where it sporatically will zoom in or out when commanded... usually have to spam the plus or minus key and it will eventually work. it is almost like there is server lag or desync, but when i check my ping to server is 40-50 and 0 desync

If the only mission that has this issue is King of the Hill then it may be something that only the makers of that mission can address and not Bohemia Interactive. If this is the case then perhaps you could submit a ticket on their feedback tracker and reference this one.

This also occurs on some wasteland servers.

Same here.
Not or randomly reacting on zoom when looking through the scope in KoTH, IaA, Scenarios, etc.
Keys are working as zoom when looking through designator works like a charm - as always.

I ran into the same problem a few days ago (and still today) with a friend on my vanilla custom server, when we both had " zoomable scopes " on our rifles like the LRPS, MOS, AMS... one of us could not change the zoom of his scope. He was stuck in one of the two zoom positions in the scope, and when the player without the bug died or entered in a vehicle the bug was passed to him while the bugged player wasn't bugged anymore.

If one of us began to run in one direction to get away from the other, after 50 to 100m of space between the two players the two could use the zoom fine again.
If one of us died or entered in a vehicle again in the range of the other player the bug appeared again.

Tried to delete all the multiplayer cache I could, verify the game files intergity with steam, tried on multiple vanilla servers, and the bug still occurs between us.

Custom scope.

In co-op (only thing tested) only one person who has the scope can zoom. If they get rid of the scope, someone else's zoom will start working.

Vanilla scoped work fine for us.

Very similar behavior when trying to toggle zoom out when not aiming down the sights. Usually it does zoom out, but the toggle often does not work. Happens more in cities than out in the wild. Seemingly unaffected by fps, though. I have played only on Battle Royale servers, can't reproduce offline (campaign or BR test range).

Hey, guys. I hope this sheds some light on the issue!

Verified tonight that it only happens (in our case) when one of the scope's OpticsModes subclasses utilizes discreteFov.

For instance, if I have this in one of my modes, the bug reproduces:

This gives the scope indexes of magnification (which fixes the slow mousewheel zoom-out issue, BTW) but it also trips the bug where only one person with the scope can use the zoom at all.

Observations:

Issue is scope (class name) independent. In our testing, any and all scopes that utilize discreteFov in their configs were affected.

The moment someone removes the scope from their weapon, someone else can use zoom.

Seems to be hierarchical, possibly related to the order in which players joined the server. If Player 1's zoom works and Player 2's does not, the moment P1 removes the scope, P2's zoom will work. When P1 reattaches the scope, his zoom will work and P2's will stop working. Not rank related.

I hope that narrows things down!
