I guess I'm gonna keep my tent until the next update then. I wish the devs would actually tell us exactly how the persistence system works or if it even works at all.

The same thing happens to me. I can't connect to the server where I placed my tent anymore. It's probably looted by now anyway :(

You don't need a tent. You can use backpacks as well.

This bug is old. And you can do it with every item that you can administer to a player. Even handcuffs.
