I also have this every time with the same building.
Side-by-side config error is an issue with the Microsoft Visual C++ runtime libraries and can occur with any application that uses VC++.
I can confirm that pistol flashlights are spawning.
I found the quiver on stable 0.52, 4 days ago in a garden shed(!). Of course it is possible it was dropped by a player, but I can't confirm or deny that.
Andy - haven't heard anything further from you. Have you given up on my (and capsan's) issues??
FYI - when the new update hit the shelves yesterday, I had the exact same issue with stable 0.51, but I resolved it by uninstalling Steam, flushing the Steam config files, rebooting my PC, turning off all antivirus software (temporarily) and re-installing Steam.
Whilst this has worked for stable, I have not tried Experimental yet, so cannot confirm.
Andy,
Followed your instructions, launched game (which failed to launch exactly as before) but this time there is no data or files in the appdata/local/dayz file, so what do I do now?
Alan
Andy,
Just to clarify and before I push the button: I need to delete just the contents of c:\users\alan\appdata\local\dayz - is that correct? and it won't affect my gameplay on dayz stable in any way?
Then I re-download dayz.exp, recreate the issue, get the new files from the pathway above, .rar them (with dxdiag report) and send them to you - have I got that right?
Thanks (just don't want to muck anything up).
Alan
@JStewart - where do I find the dxdiag report pls?
@JStewart: I have files in C:\users\alan\appdata\local\dayz
Contains:
BattlEye Folder
MPMissionsCache folder
Dayz.bidmp
Dayz.mdmp
Dayz.RPT
I have same issue and reported following on Steam in first instance:
Tried 4 times now to go on Experimental. Checked that Dayz (experimental) fully downloaded, even rebooted entire PC, but when I click on launch game I see the Steam 'launching game' window for 1 second then it's gone and nothing further happens. I can go back to stable 0.50 with no issues.
I have verified file integrity on each occasion with no issues, so it doesn't appear to be corrupted files.
Anybody else experienced this? and anybody got any suggestions on how to correct whatever is the issue?
Thanks in advance :)
To JStewart @ Bohemia Interactive: I have verified integrity of game cache on each try and have also uninstalled (all files and registry entries) and reinstalled Steam to no avail.
Found this also, but not just one or two locations but many and including sheds. Looks like they are set too low on the floor level.
Andy, 2 things:
- Yes, it is still happening. Having seen your 'tweaks made' message we went online to test it. My m8 and I stood 20 mtrs apart in an open field and we took turns in firing 4 rounds each from auto shotguns just off target of each other. He heard my second, third and fourth shots, but not my first, although he clearly saw the gunsmoke.
I only heard his fourth shot, all the others were silent for me.
- You seem to have acquired Hicks ability to be a complete politician and it feels like you have penned that note just to keep the peasants (us) happy. PLEASE just be honest and let us know what is happening with this awful bug, more often than once every 6 weeks - is that too much to ask??
If your marketing people say, never mind lets just sell more copies, then asking us to help with Alpha testing is really just a big joke.
Although I said previously 'goodbye Dayz' like many, many others I really want this to be a success and prior to the audio bug I really enjoyed palying (apart from hackers - which is another gripe all together).
Damnit m8, we are trying our best to give you guys feedback, but it really feels like someone high-up at BI doesn't give a sh1t.
BTW @cs_wolf 'Sound System Support' means little on it's own. Some detail from Andy on that would go a long way to difusing the bad PR which is building up over the audio bug.
OK - for me that's the last straw. This is a game-breaking bug. No excuse 'it's an Alpha' is acceptable on this one. If you have no idea where the shots came from, then it is an unplayable game. So for now - GOODBYE Dayz.
