Maybe I should have written it better. OP updated.
@Paper26 The ID is the number that appears on the end of your steam profile link. http://steamcommunity.com/profiles/1122334455667788/ something like that.
Then we use http://dayzguid.com/ to find their GUIDs from that number.
Got this too. I think this issue labelled wrong too, should be in Inventory or Character category.
If anyone does this and it works please post it here.

If you have enabled persistence on your server and you are finding that it is not working, then you will need to do the following quick fix to get it working again.
- Open your server in the acp and load the "Backup Manager"
- You need to select the "Reset - This Will Wipe All Data Except Your Character"
- This will clear the corrupted persistence and refresh the server files needed to fix this, once the server comes back online your items should go back to saving again.
Sorry for any inconvenience, if this fix doesn't work for you or you are still having problems then just let us know. If you do have a ticket open about this we request that you close it if this fix works for you.

I got the same thing too. Closed the game and came back 5 mins later. Changed server and got a new character.
Is it possible some servers are on different databases?
I can confirm that this happens on live unconscious people too. V822
