Did you guys made sure not entering a private hive?

Happens to me constantly, very annoying bug.

This is NOT including the wipe, just happened to me a couple minutes ago.

This is NOT on the private servers floating around out there, these are on the main servers hosted by Vilayer, Gameservers, etc.

Happened to me on US, GB, NL, and DE servers. Easy to reproduce, if you are freshly spawned, simply put your battery in your flashlight, wait a few minutes and log in and out a few times, between 1/3rd and 1/6th of the time you will log in as a freshly spawned character at a new location and without your battery in your flashlight. Happens most frequently when swapping between different servers, but DOES occur when logging in and out of the same server.

I can in titel screen see my character, i was playing on last. But when im joining a random server, im getting my default character when loggin to the server.

There wasnt any Zombies or Players near me when i logged out.
Since i could see my previous Character in the titel screen, it must have saved my character, but instead of reloading that character the game is reload my default character. But im just guessing.

My character has been deleted more than 5 times tonight. This is after the Database wipe.

This happened to me today. I did change server region from AU to US and i remember this made new characters generate in the mod

I HAVE HAD THIS PROBLEM ONCE I WAS NEAR THE NW AIRFEILD (sory for caps)

I had loads of gear and was not near anyone or zombies as far as i know (I was hiding in a bush)

Also having problem:

System Specs:
Windows 7 64-bit
2GB DDR3 HD Radeon 7750
I have 8GB of RAM
Using a 256GB SSD

What caused problematic behavior:
I would play for a few hours. Collect gear. Most common reason for logging off was losing a connection with game server. I would exit and connect to diff server. Character was correct but gear was gone and I spawned on coast. I've tried reconnecting to same server but still spawns me on coast with no gear.

Hope I provided enough info for devs to understand issue.

Same here. Every time I log out, my character is wiped, spawned on coast with flashlight. Never had problem with this before 0.28.113772 update. Fix it ASAP!

Same thing happened to me, alpha's gonna alpha but this was depressing.

Got fully geared up - left for a bit. Came back to new character on the coast.

This has happened to me every time I play then try to log in again.

I've lost

3 can openers

2 m4a1s w/ over 100 rnds in mags

6 axes

4 backpacks

hours of my life farming stuff only to have it vanish.

Done playing until this sees some resolution I just don't have the time to enjoy finding the stuff if I can't at least use it and die like a man. Zombies and bandits can't even kill me I just get reset.

@Rob636 - No, this issue was happening days before the wipe and is unrelated to the wipe.

Really wish people would stop downvoting this due to the recent global wipe. They need to actually read the bug report and notice things like Date....

This bug had like 2 downvotes earlier, then as soon as the wipe was announced all sorts of downvotes.

SORRY FOR ALL CAPS, JUST TRYING TO GRAB ATTENTION:

IT'S NOT A RANDOM GLITCH TO RESET YOUR CHARACTER.

SPECIFIC SERVERS ALWAYS RESET YOUR CHARACTER. IT'S LIKE A MINE FIELD.

I REPEAT, THE PROBLEM IS IN SPECIFIC SERVER'S SCRIPTS OR SOMETHING NOT A RANDOM DB PROBLEM.

I realize there was a wipe, but that doesn't explain these bugs. It's happening over and over again as I move between servers. I've lost 10-12 characters this way. This experience seems common to many of these reports, so I have to wager it's not just the DB wipe that is to blame.

Unfortunately, NOT completely a glitch/bug... Just alpha being alpha. They wiped the database and EVERYONE starts fresh.

But ya...constant re-spawning seems to be a bug.

Needless to say, absolutely similar issue. It seems like servers only "remember" me for a limited amount of time. Inevitably I eventually end up on the beach, even after logging out at full health, hunger satiation and thirst quenched.

I think I've only legitimately died 2 or 3 times, but I've been through over a dozen characters at this point.

All appear to be some variation on the same bug as of 18 DEC 2:10 AM UTC.

We just need to keep this thread alive and they'll see it. It's a rather irritating issue. When Rocket sent out his genocide tweet I felt so...excluded :(

I get this each and everytime I log out for longer than 30 mins.

My character disappeared today. I killed a zombie, entered inside a house, logged out and puft, new character.

I've seen people saying it's when they log out near players or zombies but I've had it happen wherever I am, if I'm in the middle of no-where on my own or not

The database was wipped, everyone lost their chars ;)

I thought the #1 patched fixed it for me.. but no when I went looking for daylight server.. I lost my new char again..

I don't understand why it's not primary report.

Loose char every time i reconnect to a server. Starting to get tired of that.

Lost character several times on same public server and across others. Once my character model actually completely changed to an Asian female that was wearing the same clothes as my default male character. Happened most consistently when public servers go down without warning, however has happened just when server changing as well.

Since the patch last night, I'm not having any issues.

Survived for two days (~twelve hours), now rolled back) Server was full so I need to join another. That was a mistake. NP with that, but need to be fixed.

Character loss here aswell.. And when I want to change my characterlooks it goed back to thesame (chinese) character

Just spawned, looted 2 hours of stuff, went to relog to join friends on other server, spawned at beach with a new character. This needs to be fixed!

Same thing here, thought it was a possible char database reset. Occurred around 2pm EST last night.

Description: Logged out in the NWAF ATC (Grid 047 051) for less than 15 minutes, logged back in on a beach. Panicked and switched servers, still fresh spawn. There were no other people on the server I was on when I logged off so getting killed after logging out is an impossibility.

Just happened as well, version 113772, using Windows 7 64bit if that helps.

Was doing some server hopping in middle of the map military base, logged in on fresh default char.

Had done 3 successful server hops prior and played a few session earlier today and yesterday which involved multiple servers. Also had to do some server hopping to find one that was actually the newest version (despite saying it was, could not open doors).

It doesnt matter if you join the same or another server! the whole loot is gone! everything new! Really neccesary to fix!

I haven't been able to log out and back in without losing my character.

Every time I log out and log back in my Character Resets.

It shows my original char. at the main screen, but whenever I join, I spawn as a new character.

This happened to me, I was at Balota, Found a balistics vest and some other items, Logged out to switch server and join my friend spawned on the coast.

Also got the same issue. Only when i pick up gear though.

Same for me. every time I join a server it resets my character.

today it saved my progression, yesterday not, as i wrote before. so i dont think its client side.

Another confirmation that for myself I never have player data saved even when away from players and zombies. However, someone I am playing with is having his player data save everytime. Same server.

same problem but it did work a few times when I logged out away from town, and in the treeline, ill try some more.
Also when creating character and change clothes etc. when you leave and go back to main menu he reverts to default settings.

i got the same thing, and i got it in the same server, another friend is like me if i close or go to menu my character receive a reset. Windows 7 here

Everytime I am respawning in I am having the same issue :(

For me it actually spawns me as a new character EVERY time I log into a server. Doesn't matter if it's the same one or a different one, if there's a zombie or other player nearby or not, and it doesn't even matter that I just spawned somewhere and had no loot, I will still respawn. Sometimes without a flashlight/battery even.

Edit: Scratch that, just logged out in the middle of the wilderness and could join another server with the same character just fine.

Edit2: Scratch that again. Apparently only some servers are affected. On some servers, I get a new character, if I switch back to the old one, I get my old character back. One that seems to be affected is FR 3-102. If I join that one, I spawn on the coast EVERY time I rejoin it.

Edit3: Seems to me that some servers can't connect to the hive to update player position and items they have? I have been playing on DE 3-102 for a while now and I've had NO problems like this one since then.

Had the same thing, was in Solinichny and decided to try and hop onto a US server. When I loaded in I had a new character and lost all my gear. Went back into UK servers and it loaded the new character rather than the old one.

Just had the same issue. Hit F3 to have my character sit down which booted me to desktop and when I logged back in, my character was missing. I did get some message, but I don't recall the words exactly. It was something similar to "Your character was unable to be loaded in. A new character has been created for you. A system administrator was notified of this error."

tried a few servers to check if the different hosters have their own database but i started at every server with a new caracter

I've also experienced this. After 1/2 hour of testing it seems that if you log out near another player or are aggressed by zombies your character will be deleted. I've tried this half a dozen times so far and it seems that if you're not agressed nor near another player it saves fine, but otherwise it doesn't. Take this with a grain of salt until it's independently verified though. Gosh, that last part made me sound like a scientist!

@Zarniwoop I don't think they have different database because I've been able to swap servers with the same character.

I got the same thing too. Closed the game and came back 5 mins later. Changed server and got a new character.
Is it possible some servers are on different databases?
