Noticed this as well. Had a couple friends on Skype and we were able to confirm the same noises playing globally on the server when one of us was half way across the map. There was one point where the pop can opening sound put two of us into a hyper paranoid full alert state until we realized what was going on. Scared the crap out of me. Good times.
