The easiest way to reproduce bug:
- go up to the tower
- run backwards and in the moment of hitting the wall release back button and start rotating right, during the rotation press right arrow (to move right)

Looks like the issue is related to rotation movement prediction and collisions.
Tested on alpha Dev build 0.55.103960
I wonder if vsync is important....
