I just recently experienced this bug but I was not being pursued by any zombies and I was not near any players. I logged out, left for town to get a microphone and came back. Logged into a server and my character was gone (Spent hours dedicating to this character and had full stocks of food, ammo, weapons, supplies etc) I had 0 spots left on my character for any useless items. Fully stocked on food, drink, ammo, and weapons.
