Use of Kanji letters in squad.xml clan nick causes game crash on other clients
Closed, ResolvedPublic

Description

I've been using this squad.xml for a few weeks:
http://www.dtclan.co.uk/squads/269415282/squad.xml
and conducted a few tests, usually when I would join in progress or die, certain people (seems to be consistent with specific people) would crash all at once.
once I stopped using this specific squad.xml the issue resolved itself and no one seems to crash anymore whenever I join a server.

It doesn't seem to happen consistently and it doesn't seem to crash everyone but according to my tests it usually happens when you join in progress with a kanji clan nick in your squad.xml

We need dxdiag and files from this folder for solve your problem. C:\Users\<Name>\AppData\Local\Arma 3\
Can you upload somewhere in winrar package please?
When package will be smaller than 2,097k, so you can attach here. When package will be bigger, please use some free sharing service and post link here. Thank you.

As I said, the crash doesn't occur on my computer but rather on other clients in multiplayer, I'll see what can be done about getting you a crashlog.

i noticed your squad xml is in ANSI format...doesn't it need to be UTF to support kanji?

edit: yeah, the characters in the remark line show up on my computer as :3, which is 0x333a - 'square pensu' yes? perhaps squad generator isnt saving the characters properly, or isn't rendering them properly.

Ticket can be closed, as it's not valid anymore.
