Stuttering on 64bit systems since build 109561 (32bit memory hotfix)
Assigned, WishlistPublic

Description

Some people with 64bit operating systems seem to be experiencing increased stuttering issues since the 32bit hotfix was released.

I would like to use this ticket to collect some data.

If you are affected by this issue, please post/attach the following:

  1. Attach your current DxDiag file. (Please name the file like NAME_dxdiag.txt)
  2. A recent rpt file. (From a game session where stuttering occurred, again named.)
  3. Post your "virtual memory" setting. (See additional information if you don't know how.) {F21837} {F21838} {F21839} {F21840} {F21841} {F21842} {F21843} {F21844} {F21845} {F21846} {F21847}

I will attach these later on tonight, I will have to remove the nologs param ;)

Where would the dxdiag be?

^^
press Winkey > type "dxdiag" > press enter
you should get an info dialog but proceed.

then you have the button "Save All Information"
choose a suitable place to save the txt file.

Posted up my Dxdiag. I have the -nologs enabled because without it the stuttering is beyond belief. I will try to get an .rpt later. My Pagefile is set to a static 8096mb.

my pagefile is set to "let windows decide" or whatever it normally says on AUTO

Page file set to 8 GB, .rpt-file attached. Sorry, named my files wrong. :(

dxdiag uploaded, now going for a spin on arma 3 without -nologs will upload rpt file soon

a quick rpt file added, will keep -nologs off and will report again when its built up

Pops, your RPT is from yesterday, using the previous build. Can you upload a new one?

I will if I encounter the issue, it seems to have been related to the mission.

maddog, would you know what to look for in these files?

I did have a couple of ideas, but none of them panned out.

Mainly I've been looking for some common denominator in the DxDiag files, aswell as possible hints in the RPT, but no luck. (Except that pops' rpt was full of error spam, but as he says, his problem may have been mission related anyway.)

Unfortunately, I don't think this issue will be easy to nail down. Perhaps the devs can make more sense of the data, should they stumble upon this ticket.

The stuttering issues in general are hard to investigate so pls try to give us as best repro as you can (along with the files MadDogX hase requested). We need to reproduce the problem to be able to solve it.

Apart from that, it might be possible that the stuttering is caused by something else in the update than the 32bit hotfix. So try running the game with -nologs and check if it happens in editor, official showcases or community missions. Is it happening right after starting the game or is it necessary to play for a longer time? Single player or MP?

Hi dazhbog this starts to happen for me when playing the game for a while.
I'm simply creating missions, testing, messing around, but it seems that it's when your in Altis even by yourself do a 360 and it judders.

I'm not sure what everyone else is going to reply but for me it's on single player
And general game play. It's getting better after each update! But the issue is still present.

I will try as much as I can to get repros set up for you

I got stutter in todays update. Heavy ones as well. Previous one was really good, but today when going up into the air I have massive stutters. Flying forward or going 3d person in some areas while moving mouse looking down caused stutters to the point it felt like performance lag almost.

Don't know if its HD lag (sitting on a normal 7200RPM atm, but it worked fine up til todays update.

All drivers updated, defragged HD, clean system etc.

Small update:
The game stutters so hard when up in the air looking down (3d person) that the game freezes at moments. All stops up like looking at a screenshot. Might be stuck for a 1-2 seconds to then continue to massive stutter.

I don't know if this is related to the ticket since I didn't have bad performance yesterday or any day before that. But who knows. They might done something with regards to this and its not doing the trick on my machine:

Phenom 2 965BE quad
Nvidia 660GTX 2gb
Corsair Dominator 8GB 1600mhz
WD Black 7200rpm
ASUS mobo (fairly new)

EDIT:
If it helps I don't see any change from previous updates when on foot. Fine performance when running around. Flying helicopters etc is another thing. Massive stutter in air.

Today experienced heavy stuttering while flying around in the new jet, uploaded .rpt and DXDiag.

Edit: One thing I noticed in particular was, that at some point last week the game would freeze for a few seconds when you switched from one place to another, using autonomous vehicles for example. The higher your view distance the longer it freezes, because the game wants to load everything before it continues to run smoothly.

Using UAVs, UGVs and potentially team switch is a real pain now. Before the update that did this (I think: Thursday update 29.08.2013) the game would just continue running and load the missing objects while you looked at them, causing pop-ups but I take those over this stuttering.

me and my bro also encountered this issue with the jet

I had stuttering but had just put in new RAM, so I swapped them to the other slots and it disappeared, IDK if this might help, altho on other games it didn't matter.

Never mind Its still doing it,

It seems to have stopped 07/09/2013 19:50 UK

Being on the ground I have perfect performance, but getting in a jet and flying makes the game stutter big time.

Loading in the island/objects while flying kills it. I can see its every time my HDD is loading that the stutter comes. We didn't have this problem in any of the other series.
