Remove the Ability to place Explosives while Free-Falling
Closed, ResolvedPublic

Description

As it says in the Summary, you can place Explosives while falling from any height in the Free Fall animation. The Explosives then get instantly placed on the ground exactly under the position of the player. I believe this is quiet unrealistic behavior and should be removed.

Points of Note:
1: There is no animation in-game showing you place Explosives while Free Falling.
2: The Explosives themselves appear immediately on the ground without travel time or drift.
3: Why would any Soldier wanna place explosives randomly while falling through the Air? without knowing exactly where there gonna land?

Your title and summary are confusing.

You need to be more clear whether this feature is already enabled and you don't like it, or it needs to be implemented.

From the sounds of it, this feature is possible, yet you dislike it or think it shouldn't be possible.

I must admit in real life, one should be able to set and activate explosives while free falling, unless they black out due to uncontrollable excitement.

do you want to get rid of this "feature"?

DownVoted
what? this isn't BF. Just need to ask to place explosives in the air in freefall when passing through a plane or helicopter

i just tested this. it works. it shouldnt. but, once again, do you want to remove it, or keep it?

Sorry for the misunderstanding I wish to have this ability removed.

So when free falling and given the time to set an explosive, a human should not be able to set and drop an explosive device while falling?

@rogerx

I'm not doubting that fact that a Human could attempt that, but my points are...

1: There is no animation in-game showing you place Explosives while Free Falling.
2: The Explosives themselves appear immediately on the ground without travel time or drift.
3: Why would any Soldier wanna place explosives randomly while falling through the Air? without knowing exactly where there gonna land?

Those points you just made should be added to the Bug Summary as they clarify many points.

My point is; placing explosives is possible during free fall, but it might not have completed coding as there are more important items on developers' agendas. Sort of irrational to remove an ability because the feature lacks animation.

Sort of like somebody with a small penis. If it gets the job done, who's complaining? ;-)

I'm not doubting that it's possible, it's just totally improbable that a highly trained soldier would even attempt such a thing and waste explosives, I also understand that there is a lot on the developers agenda's but it is an unrealistic issue and what this tracker is about reporting, I thank you for the info to correct my initial mistakes.

On your last note I'll that totally up to you buddy. ;-)

i think that it should go, or at least be changed so you can have the explosive fall with you and not be automatically placed in the dirt.

+1 for the falling explosive, it should behave according to the laws of physics. So I half agree and half disagree with this issue. Idk how to vote now :) The ability to place it while falling shouldn't be removed. It allows cool kamikaze attacks :)

Well within the world of programming, first to you make the feature possible. Then you implement any graphical eye-candy, and finally wring the code of any bugs or poor implementations.

From what I'm guessing written here, the feature is enabled with no finessing of details. ;-)

I guess this bug could be used to implement random drop location of objects from air, according to wind speed and weight of the object. (ie. Air dropped munitions.)
