Jagged shadows on highest quality

Description

Even on the highest settings the shadows casted by buildings are very jagged at all distances. Severity ranges from a minor stepped appearance to 2 metre high sawtooth patterns on the side of buildings.

Version is Alpha 0.5.102571 {F16792} {F16793}

  1. Open editor
  2. Choose Stratis
  3. Insert any player character near any buildings, most noticeable around air station Mike-26
  4. Set time to 12:00
  5. Preview
  6. Look at the shadows

Tested on all AA settings, running at 2560x1600

CPU is an i7 2600k running at 4.6 GHz
GPU is a Nvidia GTX 690

I agree that shadows are still a little bit ugly in arma3, just like in arma2, actually there the same and should not be cause this is arma3.

The jagged shadows apear on all Statics on Standard and High shadow settings. On Low settings, the shadows are correct but not smooth.

Playing on a GTX 570.

This issue has been much improved in the latest dev build with the addition of soft shadows (ultra setting).

as MadDogX said see latest dev build....

We need soft shadows in cockpits as well DX11 should be able to do this.

Closing, since the basic issue with jagged shadows has been resolved. There are still other issues with shadow quality, but these are covered by other tickets.
