ADADAD Spamming / Weak inertia in movement
Feedback, NormalPublic

Description

Game Version number: 1.2.1.189
Modded?: No

Issue Description: "ADADADAD" is the act of pressing A and D multiple times in a quick succession to go left and right rapidly to avoid incoming bullets.

This is a common sight in arcade games like Counter-strike, Valorant and Battlefield.
ArmA is a mil-sim game yet it is common to see people doing this in game. Couple this with the bad hit registration and you will start to see people complaining (me).

For a game that emphasizes slow, generally realistic gameplay, its disappointing that strafing seemingly lacks any inertia and sway. It rewards key mashing rather than careful and considered movement.

The guy aiming properly while stationary fails his shots and the guy ADADing hits while doing matrix moves - results in people devaluing their lives in game because they can just avoid bullets.

It should be implemented in the game sway and inertia that punishes ADADADing and irregular arcadish movement.

  • An now I ask a question: Will the developers think about implementing this?

Or will it be a right click - changed the status from New to Feedback and forgotten?

Thank you for your feedback purechaos.
It has been forwarded to the dev team and it is going to be reviewed.

Geez

The speed of maneuvering while aiming should be reduced while the left and right movements should not be as sensitive.

This is one of my biggest gripes with Reforger at the moment. Movement speeds and perhaps other factors like inertia should really be revisited, hopefully sooner rather than later. The need to track fast moving targets in infantry combat reminds me of the mechanical skills I need to play things like Apex Legends, Unreal Tournament, Quake at times... No joke!

  • ADS movement speeds should be drastically slower;
  • weapon-ready movement speeds should be significantly slower;
  • weapon-low-ready movement speeds should be much slower, but noticeably faster than weapon-ready;
  • weapon-lowered / on safety speeds should be noticeably slower;
  • Forward/backward movement speed when weapon is stowed could remain at current values.

This would lend meaningful player choices in selecting their weapon status, and shift the skills required from target-tracking to positioning, timing and engaging with other tools.

Additionally:

  • Inertia when slewing sharply would be a nice touch.
  • MUCH slower movement speeds overall when side-strafing.

Perhaps the devs have some thoughts on this they would share if they've had time to review it yet?

EDIT
Wanted to add some additional important situations where movement speed must be lower..!

  • When focussing
  • When leaning

Confirming that this is an issue.
Side strafing while delivering accurate fire is quite common in game and is effective. It has been used similar to the vid clip posted but also is effective with longer strafes as well. It is one of the top issues with infantry gun play that I am noticing.

Highly agree with @it_is_Sunshine ‘s points along with @purechaos

It’s a really big problem in both ArmA Reforger and DayZ (as seen in T190295 ) that wasn’t as prevalent in the Real-Virtuality titles. Seems to be a common problem unaddressed in the EnFUSION player controller. Hopefully it can be atleast be fixed before ArmA 4 (and DayZ II?) because it sorely needs to be addressed.
