40 series cards underperform without DLSS
Closed, ResolvedPublic

Description

Hi, the 4o series GPU's are not able to function at their optimal ability without DLSS. I tested this on Cyberpunk 2077 Ultra Settings + DLSS options all on, and then turning off DLSS. I get more frames due to frame generation for DLSS. I saw that someone had posted they would like to see an update to Arma 3 for DLSS 3 support. I would also ask please for this. Arma 3 is better than Arma Reforger.. and if Arma 4 is going to be like Arma Reforger, I'd much rather have Arma 3 with the support for DLSS. Please consider adding this and also adding support for CPU's like the Ryzen 9 5950x. <3

We love you Bohemia!

Greetings,

I would like to request ARMA 3 developers review the Nvidia Streamline plugin framework for possible implementation into ARMA 3 and Enfusion. If there is a better channel to make this request than a general topic then I'm all ears. 🙂

Nvidia has recently announced its open-source Streamline technology. Based on my interpretation, the plugin would allow DLSS, XeSS, and FSR to run on any Direct X 11 or DirectX 12 game.

Here is the link to Nvidia's site:

https://developer.nvidia.com/rtx/streamline

The actual framework has been posted by Nvidia on github for anyone to review:

https://github.com/NVIDIAGameWorks/Streamline

And a guide on how to implement DLSS into a DirectX 11 or DirectX 12 game:

https://github.com/NVIDIAGameWorks/Streamline/blob/main/docs/ProgrammingGuide.md

While I am unsure how much work would be required to integrate this plugin, it appears to require much less efforts and minimal cost than recoding of game libraries for DLSS or FSR 2.0. Also according to Nvidia, the plugin can run with games based on DirectX 11, which I believe is what ARMA 3 uses.

I am hoping this sounds like a feature request that would not only benefit ARMA 3 performance but may also be included in the Enfusion engine too for future releases.

The caveats so far is that this plugin only works with Nvidia gpus at the moment, but this appears to be due to the tech just releasing and can be expanded to non-Nvidia gpus due to its open-source nature.

Thank you.

Right, this is why I am here requesting this on the "Feedback Tracker". I assume some devs are looking at this still? Hopefully. Thank you for looking through my request though. You have some very good points. I just am requesting BI devs try to give us at least one truly meaningful update to a game we all love.

Don't worry about that response, it's an AI-generated spambot.
