Two picture tell everything. Despite the alive unit have no NVG and Backpack after the config settings, they have one after the group recognizes the KIA.

Steps To Reproduce

Place unit(s) into a vehicle. (Prowler will do)
Group them all.
Kill the units.
Upon the KIA report (1 - KIA), the NVG and Backpack do appear out of nowhere.
