Various Item Functions Require Double-Click-Holding
Assigned, NormalPublic

Description

This applies to numerous items. In order to perform any of the following functions, one must click and hold not once, but twice to begin the process:

  • Wringing Out Moist Clothing Items (very consistent - happens basically every time)
  • Splitting Long Sticks (this appears to be inconsistent - sometimes no double-click-holding is required)
  • Various other items (inconsistently)

This likely has to do with the network code and/or inventory code, as it seems to be exacerbated whenever an item is pulled from inventory.
Strangely, I've rarely, if ever, had this happen with prepared food I am attempting to eat, so might relate to whatever subset of code applies to modifying an item.

We're speaking of 1.17 right?

It's pretty a consistent experience, like the common dayz player can get used to the action that becomes available, requiring a twice left click to start.
(Like for ex, you finish harvesting a long stick from a bush, you slide it from Vicinity to hands, and as soon as it appears in hands, you left click. Even though the prompt offers the option, it doesn't register, requiring yet another left click, even though the option of splitting to sticks has been there for already by now about 15 seconds or so maybe a bit less.)

Pretty common indeed for many actions to sometimes require another click.

desync or not? who knows

This has been happening for a quite a while - much earlier than 1.17. I just haven't decided to log the issue until now.
It applies to so many different types of items, but is very consistently present with wringing of wet clothes.
I suspect it is an issue with the network code involved with inventory, as that has always been very slow (as the game slows down whenever you get near players to load their inventory), but the inventory code has been particularly buggy lately it seems, given how easy it is for one's inventory to get bugged (i.e. stuck) during / after a firefight.
