Hey,

Since the 1.17 Update. Its not possible to remove the wire from a gate with attached Lock.
It affects Community Servers with Base Damage turned off, because they are forced
to destroy there own locks if they dont know the code or cant reach the lock.

In 1.16 it was possible that the lock dropped after someone removed the wire
from the inside with pliers

The same here. Before version 1.17, I could turn a gate with a lock back into a wall from the inside. Complete a lot then. Unfortunately, I can no longer dismantle the lock.

Hello BI, since 1.17 unfortunately it's no longer possible to dismantle a (modded) code lock and also the vanilla locks in 1.17 on a modded server.

A fix would be appreciated or at least give server admins the option to choose. Thanks.

Same here:

Since the 1.17 Update, you can no longer dismantle a gate from the inside, if a lock is attached.
This may work fine for regular padlocks, but breaks all modded codelocks.
Please revert back to the old way or give server owners a toggle option.

Hello everyone.
Can you please explain what the problem exactly is here and how does this impact gameplay? Is the problem simply in the fact that you have to remove lock before removing the wire on the gate? This should not be an issue as long as you know the code?

That‘s not the point, the point is that it have a massive impact on some raiding systems. On our server for example we have base destruction disabled, so you can only raid if someone builds with massive gaps. So if you want to raid from the inside, you can‘t do anything because you can‘t remove the lock and dismantel the door.
So if you can’t remove the wire, you can’t remove the lock, can‘t dismantel the door, means you are stuck.

It is indeed an issue, if you wish to raid a base and do not have the code. The combination locks can be cracked, but there is no such chance with a codelock. Which makes for indestructible walls, whether you want it or not. Which again would force server owners to activate base destruction, which in turn would make the use of a codelock completely redundant. In short: this new "feature" breaks the gameplay for many, many modded servers.

I agree with Demecan, please add an option to switch this off, just like you did with base destruction.

As previous folks already said, the core mechanic is needed, to be able to take off custom code locks from gates. Pad locks fall off, but code locks don't. So you need a mechanic to remove attachments from a gate.

EDIT3: Sorry i feel stupit, i got told its about the Gate Wire! not the Barbed Wire!

You want to make a Gate into a Fence by using Pliers on the Gate Wire from the inside.
Than the Codelock shall fall down on the Ground.
And you mean that even this was not possible for several patches, that bohemia somehow changed the code, so modder cant do this anymore?

  1. The problem is appearing on servers without base destruction.
  2. Since the 1.17 update, you can no longer dismantle a locked gate from the inside (where base destruction is turned off).
  3. Most codelocks can only be detached after the gate is turned into a fence.
  4. You cannot dismantle the wire as long as a lock is attached
  5. Go back to 3.

Maybe it helps to explain the previous GDZ Raid Mechanic:

Walls and Wire can not be dismantled from the outside but they can be dismantled from the inside.
Using Barrells, Cars or other Players to climb over Base structures or construction errors to get in.
That provides most Players with Safe Bases. But also Players start to set up Traps or Ambushes near
Highly frequented Bases.

Gates were dismantable like Walls, the Codelock remained on the Gate Post/Pole until thatone was lastly also dismantled with the Shovel or Pickaxe. Than it droped on the Ground. Stealing those Locks seems to be part of the big Fun for them.
That Mod Mechanic is not working anymore since the last update.

I enjoy more the Vanilla Base Build Mechanic and understanbd that people use double accounts for safe storage on the GDZ Vanilla Server but i wanted to help the other members to get there Safe Base Build/Raid thingy back on the GDZ Moded Server.

Hey Geez,
i would love to get some update on the internal process behind this problem.
I understand the amount of tickets you have to go through, but I think the severity of this bug isnt clear.
ANY modded server that uses "codelocks" to improve base building is BROKEN atm.I do not even wanna talk about how much more server out there are modded compared to the amount of vanilla servers.
Since you cannot remove a opened CL from a gate with wires attached to it, no new bases can be build neither can old bases be destroyed.
This is a huge problem for alot of server, especially the GermanDayZ.de Servers. I would love to see some more action from BI side, since the GDZ Server are a critical community for german dayz players and, thanks to Bascht with "A Girl from Novoselki", for even more players.
Show some love to this bug and make it a toggle asap! :)
