DayZ standalone hangs on startup Massive drain on resources, can usually ctr-al-del to Task Manager and kill DayZ but sometime I can't even do that and have to power down the Windows PC and reboot.

In 2019 Dayz starting hanging on startup. Worked fine one day, next day would just get rotating circle and had to reboot to get out of the hang. Reinstalled DayZ and Battleeye numerous times. Tried everything suggested in forums, firewall, antivirus off, launch options. No joy. Gave up. Running Windows 8,1 at the time with a Radeon 7970 graphics card. When Livonia came out I tried experimental, it worked! After the Livonia experimental went away, reinstalled stable and no joy, hangs on startup.
Time passed. I also play No Man's Sky on Steam but with no problems. Upgraded graphics card to Radeon 5700XT (latest AMD drivers of course) AND updated Windows from 8.1 to WIndows 10. Amazingly, I still have exactly the same problem with DayZ, I get a rotating circle, system resources are overwhelmed, and I have to end DayZ to get my computer back. Today I updated Win 10 to the latest (1909) version. No joy, still hangs.
So I am finally, after close to a year of not being able to play DayZ, asking for help.
Event Timeline
This is the worst problem I have had playing any game in 20 years of PC gaming. It throws no errors, is reproducible across an major major upgrades, Win 8.1 to Win 10 and GPU from Radeon 7970 to Radeon 5700XT. Yet experimental with Livonia worked. I don't like asking for help but there it is.
You should be able to close down DayZ without rebooting using a second desktop through the WindowsKey + Tab keyboard shortcut if Ctrl + Alt + Del doesn't work.
Try renaming your DayZ Documents folder.
@John343 Hi. You upgrades Win 8.1 to Win 10. This is a bad option for the error "0xCFFFFFFF - STATUS_APPLICATION_HANG". This error is due to damage to system files. You need to check the integrity of system files or a clean installation of Win 10.
