Unable to see items in vicinity menu
Acknowledged, NormalPublic

Description

On the current experimental patch 1.02, there seems to be a few problems with items and the vicinity menu. The best example I can give of this occurred recently. I was dropping some items for a friend, and he couldn’t see the items in his vicinity menu, because they were directly under my character. Sometimes, when I drop a few items, certain items seems to disappear, but I believe it is because they are hidden by other items on top of them.

It seems that items will only appear in the vicinity menu, if your character is looking directly at them. Whilst this almost realistic, I do wonder if it’s intentional? If it is, then fair enough, but it’s a bit of a pain, because sometimes objects obscure the view, and you have to be in an exact position to pick an object up. It can be very finicky. Not ideal in the heat of battle, when you waste 10 seconds trying to pick up an item,

Hello EnterThePug and thank you for the report.
We have confirmed the issue with the items not being visible when player character or a zombie stands on top of them and the issue has been scheduled for a fix.
Regards,
Geez

@Geez. The problem has a wider scale of occurring problems. Earlier in 1.01, access to objects was open everywhere around. There were always a lot of places where objects are in textures - now they can not be raised. Now there are a lot of cases where you can permanently lose an item.
The action - to send an object from the hands to the ground, often creates a situation where the object disappears from the menu of the neighborhood, as the object may hang in the air, or fall into the texture.
I have an ambivalent feeling about the correction that led to this problem:

 - Fixed: Items can be picked up through walls (T13784 7 ticket number does not match the problem)

On the one hand, the correction is correct, we should not be able to take objects through the walls. But on the other hand, this fix added more problems than they did in 1.01.
In the videos there are no all cases (there are a lot of them) when you can lose connection with objects, or you cannot get connection with objects.

This T96876 ticket becomes more relevant as the player loses touch with items.

  1. Items disappear from the environment menu.
  2. This problem is reproduced not only in Christmas trees. It also occurs in the bushes, near walls, fences and in any close position to other buildings or interior items.

@Geez The problem was partially solved. But there are still frequent problems when we get visual contact with the object and its state, but we don’t see it in the vicinity menu.
