Description

To the devs:

This post is linked with this reddit post, showing multiple people agreeing to the text below: https://www.reddit.com/r/dayz/comments/ak3jzr/bring_back_legacy_controls/

The reason many of my buddies, and I'm sure, many of us in general don't comeback to this game is because the controls are clunkier than before. The legacy controls are possible but the devs said that they want the controls to be more coordinated so they got rid of the legacy controls. If the devs make it to people who play the game their way, and their way only, only the people that can deal with it will play the game. Keep both types of controls possible none should be overwritten for the other, they are both ways to play the game and I would like the legacy controls to be possible again. This game was great and I have spent over 1600 hours on this game before .63 came out with it's new controls.

Bring back these controls and make them accessible and you will surely see an increase in players:

Toggle raise weapon to be possible again. (Extra, make it less clunky by allowing the weapon to be lowered automatically if you sprint or run, then after you sprint or run the weapon comes back up automatically like in .28 or Arma 2 or Arma 3. You are basically making parts of an Arma sequel right? Keep the controls simple and intuitive.)

Bring back the ability to assign toggle crouch, prone and stand up on different buttons instead of just on one button. I'm sure you guys are already working on this one.

Maybe add a scope/zoom sensitivity slider.

Bring back the possibility to have zoom be on the same button as aim with out conflict. Just like Arma 2 or 3.

It would be nice to have controls that are basically modeled/cloned after Arma 3. Allow players to customize their controls to Arma 3's controls and you will have the best gunplay of any other Arma game. Limiting players options does not make game play better and is not a way of limiting KOS this only harms the game.

Thank you,

TBH I like new controls setup. It differs but every single FPP/FPS game I play differs in that matter.

Old controls setup was also good but after playing 50h+ with new ones I forgot about the old. I am not fully qualified with new ones, do not know them all yet but I manage to hold breath and change mags with one button plus it is quite innovative to use one button for stances - weird at the beginning but awesome after a while.

BTW: DayZ servers are IMHO like 100x times more populated than before 0.63 or even when 0.5X ones were quite playable. There are countless community servers with 100 players and full and much more 80-100 players with population "High". Those whiners will get back playing DayZ sooner they expect.

I think it will be nice to be able to bind keys to crouch, prone or stand like in the Arma series. The only thing holding me away from playing DayZ standalone currently is the lack of the ability to customize the keybindings as thoroughly as I can back when DayZ was just a mod.
