We have two tank control systems:

  • at the command of the commander to the AI ​​driver of the tank
  • direct control of the tank from the commander

The mixed use of two tank control systems causes the blocking of one control system.

There are commands in the tinctures, they sound for the crew, but this does not produce actions by the driver of the crew. Continuous back and forth does not work.
There are only two ways left to get the tank moving continuously forward, hold down the "W" key or assign a waypoint that causes other problems described in this ticket https://feedback.bistudio.com/T127626.
Continuous backward movement is only one way - to hold the "S" key.

I conducted a more thorough check and found out something. The problem arises after the tank commander will control the tank from himself, any control of the movement of the vehicle. After this action, the driver of the tank will not carry out any commands about the movement of the tank from the commander. To return the work of the execution of commands from the commander to the driver, you need to sit behind the driver and return to the place of the commander. The problem disappears, but only until any first action of the commander over the control of the movement of the vehicle.

Tested this recently, seems fixed to me. I had no issues swapping from commander to driver and back and keeping command.
As a side note to anyone who might have this issue in the future, you have separate keybinding options for commander and driving.
So if you only change the drivers controls, then the controls for commander are still key bound to WASD.
But as far as ive been able to test, driver controls always work for commander too.
