I had the same thing happen its a problem with memory management. It would appear that if you have a lot of memory this can occur. Not sure if it might be cpu also.

Here's how to fix it :-
And it will fix it!

Lets assume you have steam.

1. Right click on DayZ in steam and select properties.
2. Click on the general TAB along the top. (Might already be on that)
3. At bottom of screen click on "Set Launch Options"
4. A Box will open type in ---> -maxMem=2048

Do not include ---> its simply pointing to what you type.

This will cure the trouble your having. If it still occurs you might what to also try.

How many extra cores/threads your CPU has, see the list below:
Amd cpus:
-Dual Core: -cpuCount=2, -exThreads=1
-Quad Core: -cpuCount=4, -exThreads=3
-Six Cores: -cpuCount=4, -exThreads=5
-Eight Cores: -cpuCount=4, -exThreads=7
Intel cpus:
-Dual Core: -cpuCount=2, -exThreads=1
-Dual Core with 4 threads: -cpuCount=2, -exThreads=3
-Quad Core: -cpuCount=4, -exThreads=3
-Quad Core with 8 threads: -cpuCount=4, -exThreads=7

example my added line would be ---->
-maxMem=2048 -cpuCount=4 -exeThread=7

If your not using steam find your game exe file and add it.

Convenient that the DDOS attack has happened at the same time as an update. AND that suddenly its the reason for ALL the problems with DAYZ. Aw but its in Alpha! Our good old fall back postition and answer to all our woes!

Totally agree they are now starting to piss people off. There lag and rubberbanding is diabolical. It was only a matter of time before that happened. I think they should invest in some programers you know to program the game!

Yup and timing is everything, when do they do this update? Friday just before the weekend hits and people want to start playing. This is AMAZING! They should do their next update xmas eve and that way if anyone wants to play the game, they can't. And if they moan? They can always shut them up by telling them its in alpha!

2020 I think you will need to give them more time than that to fix the game. Come on they are not that good. {:-) I hear they added suicide in the game but I can not test it as i can not actually get on. But its in ALPHA - great excuse for absolutely everything that goes wrong.

I was playing with a friend when all of a sudden out of the blue I hit TAB to look at what I have. Hmmm... the backpack I had is suddenly gone - I have no idea where it went? Oh and the mosin with scope I was so proud of that's gone too.

Frustrate and down hearted I decide to try and recoup some gear. Find a drybag and after 3hrs or so its almost full. Oh sever restart! Gosh! I load back up and all that's in my drybag is a banana. Yes a fucking banana!

Almost a year in alpha and the devs can't even get the servers to work properly. I understand its in alpha but really the core function of the game is the servers and they are diabolical. I look at all the people on my steam friends list, a lot of them have DAYZ but hmm... they are not playing it. I have never seen any of them play it. Most likely they went on, got to a city and LAG or rubber band.

The devs think they are doing well bringing out a vehicle. As far as I'm concerned they can stick it where the sun don't shine. The basics of any game, is playability! And I hate to say it but your servers are BAD! Framerates BAD! The high hopes I had for this game much like a lot of my friends not going anywhere near DAYZ is slowly diminishing. I can wait for content, I can wait for vehicles, new builds, clothes whatever. Its in alpha and new stuff being added means it will be bugged.

But the SERVERS one year on are not any better than when I first started in fact they are getting worse! Do you hear me? They are getting WORSE. I rubber band now more than I ever did. My character resets now more than it ever did. Fixing the zombies running through walls is the best fix of 2014 because that's what the community wanted myself included. You know what they want now? Let me tell you... better servers!

I can't wait for H1Z1 maybe that will be the game I hoped DAYZ would have been!

Hmm my brother was playing on Windows XP with no issues. It would be nice to know if anyone is getting this problem with Windows XP?

From what I see the game seemed to work fine for everyone 3-4 days ago our computers did not stop functioning at the same time. They need to ROLLBACK! Or roll forward {:-)

Yup Same thing happens to me. I am also playing on windows 7 64bit if its even that. I played fine on Friday 15/8/2014. And by Sunday this happened and yes I timed it its 15 - 20 minutes.
