Same happens to me, with or without -nosplash in the launch options.

I use the following and have tried every combination of the three, and always crashes VLC. Sucks cause I generally speaking always have VLC open watching something.

-nosplash -skipintro -cpucount=8

Also, I'm using VLC Media Player v2.0.4
