Seems to be fixed in experimental. I painted a fire axe and it stayed in the same slot, just changed the color.

In PoE was a similar feature, you typed /debug into chat and the server saved some state information, you took a screenshot with the debug ID showing. Afterwards you reported the bug similar to here using the screenshot. So the devs had state info, screenshot and your description.

I disagree with the idea of forcing the bug report process onto the general public. It's a pain in the ass for those not used to it and the devs wont get high quality responses from them.
