Don't be a bandit then and fight on closer distance some enemy who knows about you. :P

This happened to me a couple of times too. C'mon developers! This is really frustrating since players can do absolutely nothing about it (as oppose of being killed by someone or something) and after you spend a number of hours carefully looting dangerous places (while carefully reducing and taking risks) this really makes you want to rage quit. I know DayZ is still early alpha but at least give this issue some priority so we have at least a little hope for it to get better.
