It's clearly better in 0.49 than it was in 0.48 where only 1 out of 10 zombies would "stick to the rules"
It seems though that they "ignore" the walls and try to hit you

I don't know if it's the same issue but you can simply drop the wet equipment down and wear it back and it isn't wet anymore
