This has happened to myself and the guy I play with and our computers are similar only in operating system.
You log in and the graphics look like a 15 year old game, blurry and out of focus.
As soon as you open the video settings menu the graphics pop back in to where they should be. {F29012} {F29013}

same here, all is blurry until I click on video options. Disabling post processing prevents it from happing, but I kinda of like to know when my lil dude is about to die
Hello, i posted the same issue few days back, http://feedback.dayzgame.com/view.php?id=2604 , can we somehow link our reports? or add the same tags at least :)
I also have this bug. The blurriness will persist until the video options menu is opened. I played for a long time with the screen blurry, thinking it was part of the game, but I eventually got fed up and went to the video settings menu, and the game immediately sharpened.
confirmed. happens on the odd occasion and can fix by going to video settings and not changing any settings.
Also having this, but it is not a bug that causes the blurryness, the bug is that you can cheat your way around blurry vision from sickness or low blood by clicking into the video menu and out again.
No it is a bug that causes blurry vision. My lil dude is not sick, thirsty, hungry, poisoned, shot, stabed or bleeding after respawned. It does not happen all the time, and seems to only happen on logging in
Hey just found out it is your health setting. so you need to heat and drink and get healthy. video is a temporary fix and can hinder your ability to see your player statas
This issue is sorted! Food and Drink all the way will stop this problem. The video settings is not the answer. You will still die! Keep eating and drinking on your runs.
Same problem here. Dont even have to adjust setting, just opening up the video settings clears it right up.
Hello, i came to this website to report this very issue, i have been having this issue since i started playing the game 2 weeks ago and still have it now.
Same as you, if i go to video option it fixes the problem, but sometimes the issue returns shortly after and i have to go to video options again to fix.
Normally happens faster after prolonged sprinting.
The blurriness is NOT a bug. Please watch the following YouTube video for clarification: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UVGxHTXbaoo
Opening the video settings menu however should not remove the blurriness and indeed is a bug.
I posted about this twice, 0005668 and another time before. It's very frustrating not getting an answer to this. I've been playing for three weeks now and have to reset my setting every login.
Starkvix: And I think it's very frustrating that people post without reading any of the previous comments every time.
dev0: The comments posted here are not exactly easy to filter, it would take you six months to read through them all. This is a bug and it is serious because it takes seconds to reset whilst you're in the open, a target for anyone.
Starkvix: This report here has like 10 comments in total most of them are one-liners or even simply "Confirmed" messages. Before posting to any bug tracker it is really recommended to at least skim through the most recent comments to see what the current progress on the bug is. More often than not adding additional comments is not really necessary.
Please adhere to my advice and watch the video I linked. The blurry screen is not a bug. It's a bug that you can reset it by opening the video settings screen. The video will explain in detail where the blurriness comes from and why it will not be reset by just restoring your blood.
TL;DR is: it indicates low health (which is different from blood!) and can only be recovered by natural regeneration under very specific and hard to reach circumstances. For details watch the video.
Or to stress one of the most overused quotes in software development: it's not a bug, it's a feature.
dev0, thanks, going to experiment now. Sat on the hillside overlooking Koslovka with three bags of rice, four cans of beans a four canteens. But, as I recollect I had a blurred screen when I spawned ... I might be wrong. As said, checking advise on video
Not everyone is a programmer and knows the difference between "feature" and "bug" when encountering what should not be happening in gameplay. Just bare with us, or make a youtube video explaining the difference. I couldn't play my game for days, until I reinstalled Steam. I posted the problem everywhere, under different labels, because no one could help and the problem was ambiguous. Was it a bug or something else? I didn't know or care. But good on you for pointing it out.
To those saying that the blurry screen is not a bug: In this case, it is. This is not the winded/dying blurry screen. It can happen to anyone, healthy or not. I have experienced it with healthy characters. It only happens after logging in to a server. Sometimes, the screen is more or less blurry. I have found that this blurry screen is far worse than any intended screen effects, and have never experienced that level at any other time. Sometimes, the screen doesn't show at all and instead presents a solid color, usually a puke green. This also goes away if you open the video settings.
I always have this issue, Having full health and light green energized + hydrated does not change it.
Happens every login. Also noted when I get hit by a zombie get a bit desaturated in colours and blurry. go to display settings and click = all good.
Edit- am not buying the "feature" explanation. Have eaten 6 pristine cans of food
Drunk 2 canteens of water. Wait 2 minutes standing next to a tree in sun. log out. on my next log in...blurry.
Yes, this seems to still be an issue, since patch did not address this. I thought first it was due to being cold, then realized many had reported the problem.
I have to confirm this. This also happens if i get damage, the game gets blurry and keeps it until i open the video setting.
Had this after connection loss (internet connection went down) and rejoin in server. Opening video settings doesnt help much. The Dude is in 3rd Person view clear, but distant blur persists. Makes the game unplayable for me because of headache
Confirmed. Happens to me randomly after restarts.
Also getting the same issue as ottk3. Screen gets blurry after getting damaged by a zombie. Opening Video settings removes the blurriness.
Gfxcard: ATI 5870
Blurry screen happens on 1st main menu after starting exe, or when logging into a server, with an energized/hydrated hardcore character.
ATI 4890
Additional: sometimes when logging out from server to the main menu, the entire screen goes blank. Hit escape, the menu comes up fine. Configure->Video, background now normal.
confirmed, same fix for me i just go into the video section of the menu and it pops right into shape
confirmed - thanks! I was swallowing vitamins and charcoal tabs, eating and drinking and nothing worked. The blurriness was so annoying and affecting my eyes.
Starting to think this is a combination of bug and feature.
The feature part being blurry due to lack of health, but there seems to be a disconnect between the health level and blurriness. It seems like the blurry is maxed out upon login, without any correlation to the lack of health.
The bug part is where the blurry setting is following into areas where it should not be, like the main menu.
No game "feature" should make your eyes hurt or give you a headache.
If i don't use the video settings trick to remove the blurriness i get some really bad headaches and my eyes start hurting.
when they do fix this they should most definitely think about tuning down the blurriness and screen glow effects, would be unplayable if we couldn't turn off this "feature"
i can confirm this.. same is happening to me.. i just turned off post processing.
