344MOA of M4 needs fixing.
Closed, ResolvedPublic

Description

M4 has 0.1 dispersion compared to 0.00175 in ARMA2.

The reason this is really really bad is simple: Look at WarZ. Their gun's accuracy was terrible.
That resulted in tiring 200~300+ round shooting combat at 150m with bandits.

That's.... not good.

The WarZ gunplay annoyed me way too much. It was soo bad, too much spread at even 30 - 50 meters.

I really don't want DayZ to have the same spread as WarZ, so +1 vote

Just tested yesterday to shoot a zombie couple hundred meters away with ACOG sight. Aiming at the same spot and the bullets got left, right over and under. It's crazy.

Do the devs even look at this thread? It's a fucking joke. At least acknowledge the fucking thread, god damn it. Can you at least change the status so that I know some human has looked at this?

@SystemFailure let me guess, you have magpul buttstock or handguard? DayZ is promoting magpul as if DayZ was a Free2Play made by Magpul at this time.

i agree they need to fix this, and its not just for m4, but so far iv experienced it with m4 and handgun (idk bout mosin)
acknowledge the thread devs, its taking away the military sim. aspect of what made dayz so crazy.
best thing bout dayz firefights was being able to be 600m away, shoot at someone, hit them, and watch their friends scramble. Which at the moment you cant do. no matter how good your aim is.

Made a thread on the forums on changes to weapon handling and performance

check it out and give your feedback http://forums.dayzgame.com/index.php?/topic/157752-proposed-changes-to-weapon-handling-debuffs-accuracy-tradeoffs-etc/#entry1580659

Shooting zombies with an ACOG at 100m plus is nearly impossible. The amount of spread and drop even when rested and at prone is far from realistic. MPBR of a 55grain .223 REM is in the region of 240yds, at 100yds I should be hitting high with out noticeable sway even with a decent breeze. Presumably we are shooting mil spec rounds anyway with marginally more power.

Random spread is just bad this clearly needs fixed.

Not a big issues for now. There are more important things that need fixing first.

i don't know what are you talking about. m4 is pretty accurate with bipod. 300 meters hit is accurate and easy

This happens with Moisin as well. I am using LR scope with mine and can't get decent accuracy even at 500 yards unless prone with bipod deployed.

Real issue I think is that weapon sway seems to have no relation to shooting accuracy; you have a nice stable sight picture but when you fire the weapon the rounds go all over the place.

Pristine m4, OE buttstock, worn MP handguard, bipod, prone, pristine ammo. I can drill Zeds at 250m easy. Right-click to steady....and boom... 1 less Zed. I do see less dispersion fully pristine attachments and using MP stock/handguard...but this is known.

I agree, both for realism and for DayZ the spread needs to be tightened.
I shot at zeds 100m away and can see the bullets warp almost 2-3 ft away from their torso.
Compare to my real life AR-15 where I can drop 5 water bottles with 5 shots at 100m... and I am by no means an accomplished marksman.

its part of the game system, attachment types as well as the quality effect the dispersion

i can happily shoot Z's at 600 meters with m4+acog

switch the mp for cqb stock and plastic hand guard and people are having trouble hitting in the same 5 yard box at 200 meters

Issue is fixed - the M4A1 is now as accurate as other rifles (with the right attachments its even the most accurate tied with the Mosin).

Indeed, this has been tweaked and I believe fixed as well.
Thank you all for your feedback.
