Raising/lowering weapon forces the player to run/walk
Assigned, WishlistPublic

Description

When a player raises or lowers his weapon while moving in any direction, the character will continue to move in that direction for a few steps and the player cannot stop this movement.

This occurs while crouching and standing, when moving forward, sideways or backwards, while walking, running and during combat pace with either the main weapon or the sidearm.

Every time the "raise/lower weapon" action is used a few more seconds of forced movement are queued and the players is unable interrupt it except when pressing the "Step over" key (standard "v").

Still happening. This ticket was created almost a year ago.

Basic RV animation system. There's no separation between arms and legs for example but the whole body needs to do the animation.

I refuse to believe that this is the best possible. During the alpha there was a time when the raising/lowering weapon animation was more responsive and didn't force movement on the player. It also didn't stop the character's movement, which happens in some cases in the latest stable/dev build.

Infantry focus is often mentioned throughout the dev livestreams and I bet I'm not the only one who doesn't like to point a gun in someone's virtual face. So a further look into this would be much appreciated.

This issue is still present in the latest dev-branch 1.53.132670 (30.09.2015).

Today I ran to a outside corner of a house, raised my weapon for securing the area but my player ran a few steps right out of the cover into the open. I got shot by the enemie.

Please fix that issue.

Thanks to cater182 (#0027511)

If you repeadetly hit the toggle raise/lower weapon key in the latest development branch 1.55.134043 your character will not just stop jogging after a few steps.

As longer you hit the toggle key while jogging, as longer the character moves.
