[Physics] - Armoured Vehicles - Quirky and Unmanly
New, WishlistPublic

Description

Current:

All tracked/armoured vehicles feel very quirky and light weight (In Arma 2, the whole screen would shake when a suitably heavy vehicle came along)

All tracked/armoured vehicles can't even crush/drive over a number of different things like:

  • Road rails on the side of the road
  • Old tires places as collision dampeners on the Go-Kart tracks (yup! Try it if you don't believe me!)
  • Light poles
  • Certain trees
  • Small buildings/shacks
  • Wall ruins
  • Misc stuff in towns like barrels, stands etc. Tanks are stopped dead

I'm sure this is an incomplete list, but you get the idea. I mean seriously W.T.F?? :(

Also when in a tank with NPC's, the way the turret moves is as though it were on a rubber band operating the mechanics. If the turret has to make a 180 degree turn to target something, it kinda does a bouncy swirl back and forth, which lessens with each bounce, until it finally is on target. What the *bleep* ? :-S

Finally, armoured vehicles seem to weigh nothing - I've been flipped over by a QUAD BIKE! I've been flipped over by a 4WD Off-Road, I've been flipped over by a street lamp that I hint full frontal (some weird physics glitch happened as a result that catapulted me upwards and landed me on my head)
I've done silly large jumps down hills with a tank, as though they were an off-road motorcycle.

It might be that this whole ordeal is supposed to be "slightly in the future" and as a result things look and feel a bit outlandish, and I can't argue that it isn't, because it seems that way. The result, however, means that everything feels very unmanly, quirky and makes no sense at all.

If you need to crush things with a tank in a videogame to feel manly, I have some bad news for you...

Oh great just what I need, a boring and self-appointed internet psycho-analyst with no reading comprehension and the sense of humor of a mountain goat..yes I can't feel manly without crushing things with a tank in a video game, that is exactly what I said. In fact if this issue doesn't get fixed soon; I might be forced to wear these high heels and this, otherwise dashingly beautiful and flowery, dress for even longer, and I haven't even figured out what lipstick goes with it yet, let alone eyeshade.

This is made even worse by the fact that, having no manliness I have no concept of self-confidence and continuously whine to myself in the mirror about how I need to lose weight and that my bum looks too big in this outfit; and the only possible cure for this, is crushing every imaginable thing under the armored track of an MBT - surely you can see why this issue is important.

If for nothing else, the tank goes well with my dress and this marvelous nail polish I just picked up.

I agree with the point you're making. All the vehicles are too bouncy, but I voted the issue up mainly because of that post. xD

In all seriousness though, I don't have enough Hard Drive space left to have both A3 and A2, therefore I think the gravity in A3 needs to be fixed otherwise I too may be out shopping in the January sales. For both a HDD and a dress...

I absolutely agree with the above-mentioned issue. It has been reported multiple times already. The way vehicles work in game right now and how their physics get calculated just looks unfinished.

I suggest the developers to overhaul all vehicles after the fatigue and damage system of the infantry has been finished.

Thank you for the support - I feel the issue, if addressed, will do a lot about the overall feel of the game and steer the feel in a positive direction.

PhysX implementation in Arma 3 is just... eeh. Upvoted!

In my opinion this guy has it pretty right, aside from the manliness thing (this is a feedback tracker, not ifunny). The heavy vehicles need their weight increased by a few tons. Also they should be able to drive straight over vehicles like the hatchback.

You are right of course, the humor is inappropriate...I was merely trying to lighten the mood a bit.

Nevertheless I still feel this is an important issue that should be addressed sooner rather than later.

The road rails are extremely annoying... Can't tell how many vehicles got immobilized by it!

Who needs mines anyway? Just make a circle of road rails and laugh at them trying to cross them
