Cannot stop UAVs once control has been taken
Closed, ResolvedPublic

Description

If you place a UAV in the editor, and preview, it'll stay on the ground where it is.

However, as soon as you take control, it'll be impossible to stop it from taking off. As soon as you release control it will take off, no matter what.

yeah UAV are TOO independant at the moment, they take off without any order to do so and attack ennemy on sight without, again, any order

In the map, left click and select the action you want like hold fire, land, wait, loiter.

But I think you want them to have to be commanded to take off at the moment.

I'm not sure if you're talking about the AR-2 or the MQ4A, but both have 'land' commands.
After your steps, do the following:

Open the UAV terminal
Left click to place a marker
Right click, go to TYPE, then hit LAND

AR-2s will attempt to land anywhere, although due to the inaccuracy of the land function they'll usually drift off too much and land on uneven ground/in a bush.
The MQ4A seems to land with help of the landing autopilot function, but forgets to turn off its engine, causing it to veer off the runway and eventually crash into some barriers. If you manually turn off it's engine it'll just start up and take off again.

I'll agree that this needs to be fixed.

Make separate tickets for the other issues.

This is pretty annoying, hopefully they'll fix this soon...

This should be fixed. UAVs should stay on the ground when you land them and stop them.
