[Editor Feature Request] a small preview box showing man or object placement!
Closed, ResolvedPublic

Description

in some games editors they have a preview box that shows you where you have placed your unit or object.. could also solve the editor icon issue as you will be able to tell where you've placed it.

not asking for the little box to be a live feed, it could simply be a snap shot photo and when the elevation, direction, position is changed it refreshes.

for example take a look at the attached photo's. gives you an idea on my request.
im sure most people will appreciate what im asking for.

Additional Information

this could also solve a lot of the mission editors icon "direction, placement" issue.

maybe could also help with placement in buildings as this would save near enough 50% of the designers time clicking that preview button.
especially when placing units inside buildings and same with objects.

hope this ticket makes sense and dont forget to vote up! :)

as i am crap at editing photos ive simply uploaded them both.
just imagine the editor interface and a small box in the unit placement UI of the 2nd photo. :) (so in other words, double click when F1 is selected and a small box appears somewhere showing you a preview)

[EDIT]
also when the equipment tab is implemented... this could show what units will look like when you change their outfit guns etc instead of clicking preview every time you change something.

I totally agree with your idea. However... What I meant was that when the units actually spawned they would be somewhere else then what it showed with-in the editor. I think that might be an error within the game itself. But again I agree with your idea and it would actually solve the problem.

or just do both tickets haha
