[Control Improvement Request] Freelook Enabled in Land Vehicles Overriding Heli Flying with Mouse Keybinds
New, WishlistPublic

Description

The Enable Free look in Vehicles Option in game overrides the mouse keybinds to fly the Helicopter.

The Free look in Vehicles should only be enabled only on land vehicles, sea vehicles except the underwater ones, and passenger seats for air Vehicles.

I have to turn the option off when I want to fly a heli with a mouse.

I like having Freelook always enabled in vehicles that only move on the X axis, but for Y and X axis vehicles (Heli's, Jets, Underwater vehicles) I like using my mouse to fly and do not want Freelook enabled.

Can the the settings be changed so we can customize this even more to each players own liking.

Also I think the "Enable Free Look" option in game options will do what you're asking, just note that you won't be able to disable it unless you change the option.

Look in Options/Game and enable vehicle freelook

my god...... is it SO HARD to double press Alt?

besides, the title make it seems like if you dont want people to drive with the mouse, even tho the mouse is far more sensitive and accurate than a key

I can drive flawlessly with keys. I am not asking to remove steering with the mouse. I did not realize there was a Enable Free look in Vehicles Option.

I am changing the Topic to be of the Enable Free look in Vehicles overriding with Heli mouse control.

then this is also not a bug, you just wont like to fly and look freely with the mouse at the same time, its stupid

You said the term bug, I never stated it was a bug.

Please read the topic contents before replying. Your reply makes no sense.

I do not want Freelook enabled all the time when flying helis.

I use mouse for heli and never for a vehicle. Double taping while is a minor action it builds up to a tedious momentum breaking thing. It takes a second and that second just ruins the flow, every single time you enter a vehicle. I too would like to have it diffrent for air and land vehicles, since it annoyed me since operation flash point up to this day.

i have already read the ticket, either you think its a problem that you cant freelook and pilot with the mouse at the same time, or you think you should do both at the same time, both are impossible and stupid requiests

Dr Death, you need to improve your reading comprehension. Your replies are making you look stupid. Read my last note before this one.

yeah........ i wasn't so wrong but i see what you meant in the ticket, so, that takes me to the real question here:

IS IT SO HARD TO JUST DOUBLE PRESS Alt?

Seriously, just do it everytime you get into a helicopter/plane and that's it

Its tedious and can be improved through friendly custimization options. While the muscle movement isnt hard, mentally it starts to annoy you every time you enter a vehicle, breaking your natural expectations of being able to move your head. It greatly brakes the flow creating a moment of annoyance and frustration between entering a vehicle and driving off. I'd be happy if it was just added as an option in some .ini file at least.

When they added the enable Freelook option, i thought this will do it. But it completely disables double alt tap aswell, making it impossible to turn the mouse controls back on(last i recall). Aswell as its still the same for both transport types, air and ground.

--(easy?)Fix proposal--

If it was possible i propose that the computer stores the last known players decision for each vehicle type. For instance if i entered a ground vehicle and double tapped alt, the game remembers that for all ground vehicles from now on, until i double tap alt again to reenable mouse movement, and then it overrides the last known decision. And the same goes for helicopters and planes, only in separate options.

We would greatly apreciate it. So far the game is shaping up impressively, would be great if the little annoyances that add up to big ones would be ironed out aswell.

Dr Death, KardasLT already explained what I was about to, I also find it annoying to have to double tap ALT just to look around. There already is a enable free-look automatically when entering vehicles. This topic is just about correcting the feature more so me and KardasLT can fly helis using the enabled free look in vehicle option and still fly helis and jets using the mouse. Not have the mouse use for flying permanently disabled because we turned one feature on.

This is as simple as I can state it, I am done rephrasing myself over and over. Please learn to read, or stop trolling.

"Not have the mouse use for flying permanently disabled because we turned one feature on."
that doesn't make no sense at all

"There already is a enable free-look automatically when entering vehicles."

never happened to me, when i got inside a vehicle i had the free look on/off the same i had before entering.

"Please learn to read, or stop trolling."

do you know the definition of trolling? i admit i made mistakes, but if i were trolling the outcome would be really different

Dr Death, I have concluded you are just a troll. I am ignoring your messages from now on. Your messages seem no purpose other than to just get a rise out of others. Have a good day and good luck in your petty affairs.

Thanks, but no, i am not a troll, an ACTUAL troll just want to make people angry, i just want to point out how this ticket is a waste.

Unless of course, you think everybody who thinks different than you must be a troll

Can you stop contributing nothing to anyone and let people help BI resolve issues. This ticket isnt a waste if youd actually read what its about.

Unknown Object (User) added a comment.May 24 2013, 6:10 PM

i did it.... several times, and i cant let EVERYONE tell BIS things that ain't even a problem (like that dual wielding guns tickets)

I agree with this ticket, at first I was very happy about the "Enable Vehicle Freelook" option when it was added, but I quickly realized that it's completely pointless if you don't only fly with a joystick. The option should either not apply to air vehicles, or there should be an option to only enable it in ground vehicles. Otherwise, the "Enable Vehicle Freelook" just makes no sense to me.

Unknown Object (User) added a comment.May 24 2013, 9:53 PM

i dont see the problem, if you dont like to enable vehicle freelook just dont enable it, i dont see why it must be supressed if there are people that use it on air vehicles

+1

And I can't understand why is it so big problem if somebody wants separate freelook option for land and air vehicles. And YES it IS annoying to double tap ALT every time you get in a land vehicle - as said before

The "enable freelook" option works like a charm for land vehicles, but not for helis. Well i prefer a default free look as a land vehicle driver, default no-freelook as gunner (like it is now with option "freelook enabled")and fly an air vehicle with joystick. But for people who want to use a mouse for flying the enable freelook option makes it,like KardasLT already said, impossible to fly with the mouse. Atm no 2xleft Alt to disable freelook will work in air vehicles (tested with MH9). So +1 from me for this request.

The only problem I have with needing to double tap Alt each time you get in a vehicle (A2 style) is that if you move your mouse AT ALL while getting in the vehicle and before double tapping Alt, you enable free look while locking your steering at a position that's not center. In a chaotic situation, this happens constantly and breaks immersion when you've got to double tap Alt again, center steering then double tap Alt again. And in a lot of cases the time this takes means everything. Separate Land vs Air vehicle general free look options would fix this for good.

Christ it's 2017 and this still hasn't been implemented, at least let us disable freelook with double-ALT when in heli's, it's super annoying to have to always go into the options when in a heli and disable Vehicle Freelook.

And yes I know you can just double-ALT to enable freelook with the option disabled but I'm in land vehicles more than I'm in a helicopter.
