d3d error - DXGI_ERROR_DEVICE_REMOVED
Closed, ResolvedPublic

Description

The game suddenly closes and a dialog with this message "d3d error - DXGI_ERROR_DEVICE_REMOVED" immediately pops up. This is only a new issue starting today (16-05-2013) and it's every single time I go to play it now. The last time i played was about 2 weeks ago. I still got a "game has stopped working" message before today when i hosted a server and went to drag someone into a player slot myself. Other times it stopped working for no apparent reason but i proceeded to start the game again and it worked. However, this is a new issue and it's happening all the time. {F19443} {F19444}

Steps To Reproduce

I just restarted the game and it worked occasionally. But now i go to restart and it's happening without fail. It occurs soon after i open the game and i see the main menu. Sometimes i can get into the editor part of the menu, select something and then it occurs.

Additional Information

I've only read some forums and it seems that my GPU is the issue - perhaps i need to upgrade the hardware. I haven't tried drivers upgrades yet.

Yes, it can be driver or overclock issue. Can you try update drivers and then let me know? Thank you.

Hi. Thank you for your reply. I've updated all drivers and played on editor and things seemed to be fine, except for a couple of pauses that lasted maybe 3 to 5 seconds. I haven't played for a few days. I'll play multi-player a bit later on and for longer periods and let you know how it goes. Cheers.

I get this alot upvoted and have reported this myself. glad to see this is assigned!!!

I've done quite a bit of research about this problem as I constantly get it and I'm unable to play my favorite game in my favorite series for more than 10 minutes without getting this error. Many people in different forums (especially the Crytek forums) are getting this error. It seems to be a common thing with higher-end graphics cards and newly released games that are graphically very taxing.

Look at this link and read Sultaan's posts/fixes: http://www.mycrysis.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=65&t=59764&sid=de8e77265e4f2149f5a6633857bf3124&start=20

There are 2 primary solutions many people have come up with to fix this issue. The most popular one is to slower raise your graphic card voltage levels by very small increments until the error stops. These increments should be very tiny (0.10V - 0.15V per increment, and don't go over 0.40V max) . Refer to the link I gave to see the increment range, DO NOT DO THIS RECKLESSLY, make SURE you know how much you're incrementing it by and what is safe for your card.

The other is to lower any Memory Overclocking to it's default setting in your bios.

I will be trying both of these today to see if they work for me, but it worked for a friend of mine.

The same problem only when running Youtube (Flash).
When I launch Youtube (flash) before the game, there is
"D3D DXGI_ERROR_DEVICE_REMOVED".

I use 2 monitors.

Hello,

I have been running alpha and beta with no issues since their respective launch.
Today after having booted up the game normally I am now getting "D3D DXGI_ERROR_DEVICE_REMOVED".CONSTANTLY.

I havnt had ANY issues with the game up until this point. The last driver update for my GTX 680 was in the beginning of July, and that version has run perfectly up until today, I dont think it would be a driver issue.

Is there any other information I need to submit to help out with your research into this occurrence?

I'm having the same problem. I updated my drivers two days ago and I'm getting the error still.
