It could be good to have dynamic models, so they damage visually as well. A heavier vehicle will deliver more visual damage to the more liter and less armored one when you bump it.
Also, It could be fun to run over some vehicles with a tank, so they almost turn into pancake and crew in a vehicle that was ran over, instantly dies, or get stuck, depends on how bad it was :)

everyone vote up, this should be implemented. Visual damages will also affect driving, which is cool.
also, for the bullet impacts, IL2 Cliffs of Dover does that pretty well:

the holes on the fuselage are all provoked by an actual impact, and at a certain point, the impacts are replaced by a damage layer/model (what we have in arma right now)

That would be really amazing!
Black textures can't stand a game like ArmA III!

Today i have seen a short video about the new dynamic damage modell for DayZ (upcoming version 0.59).
It looked not finished at all but it was a great demonstration, what the vehicle models of ARMA3 are missing.
At the moment we only have three states of damaged vehicles.
- Not damaged body
- wheels are missing/windows got shattered
- burning body
Not every mine or explosion will cause a burning (not, light or heavy armored) vehicle.
I know, it will be a shitload of work, but maybe someday we got more detailed damage (even for soft targets like human bodies) too.
see also http://feedback.arma3.com/view.php?id=22711 The "damage" getdamage" commands are often non exploitable as they return binary_like results 0 or 1 (see feedback attached video). It could be great to link "hitpoints" damages with a general status "damage". Not simple but mandatory for consistent damages with a bunch of vehicles / units!
