Helicopters not agile enough
Closed, ResolvedPublic

Description

It takes ages for helicopters in Arma 3 to roll. The controls should be way more snappy and direct.

I've tried rolling bank with a joystick (X52) and using the keyboard. The rolling rate is just too slow. When you need to break, or dodge trees for instance, in real life you'd make a quick input on the cyclic and helicopters generally react very 'snappy'. Now it takes a second or 2 to go from level to 60 degrees angle of bank.

I do not think this is a major issue.
You could give some more information. Are you flying with mouse/keyboard/joystick? Have you tried increasing the sensitivity of mouse/joystick?
Anyway, not really a major issue as I think flying in a helicopter is as "sophisticated" as it was in Arma2. ;)

I tried flying with keyboard and joystick. Haven't changed any sensitivity settings. The roll rates are just way too slow. A real helicopter reacts more direct and rolls faster.

A real one reacts much faster? Are you a pilot (irrelevant, just curious). I have no problems and the helicopter react extremely quickly. I've increased my overall mouse sensitivity in Arma3 so that may help. If you don't want to also affect player movement, you can get a mouse with push-button DPI settings so when you get in a helicopter you can increase the sensitivity at the hardware level. Additionally, if I want to bank REALLY fast I just use the A and D keys where my fingers are already resting.

Either way, my mouse feels almost too responsive, and it's probably due to my own sensitivity changes, but either way I'm gonna have to disagree here, I think they are one of the more balanced controls.

NOW, mouse control of wheeled vehicles is a different story. Show a guy some up-vote love lol http://feedback.arma3.com/view.php?id=2230

Flying with a mouse just doesn't cut it for me.. way too unrealistic.
Didn't know TOH flight model was coming to Arma3.
Yes, I'm a real pilot.

47Pilot, did you try out adjusting your mouse sensitivity in-game or with mouse driver DPI adjustments? Did you try flying with a joystick?

I'm currently flying with a joystick and it's very responsive.

This ofcourse concerns the current flight model, and if that'll change in next versions, this report could be disregarded.

I have a Saitek X65F (Joystik) and i have many dificulto to set him at Arma 3.

I dont know why.

OK, good figure, sounds reasonable.

Updated the main description with your numbers.

FWIW, the Ka-50's max roll rate in DCS Blackshark was 45° per second, so 1-2 seconds to roll 60° in the Littlebird sounds reasonable. Of course, Littlebirds are known for their maneuverability.

Ok.

I could configure my joystik X65F, but X65F have a Force Sence sistem and its, bugging with game sensibilities.

The game do not recognizes all butons in X65F, forcing me to use the Saitek Profile editor.

the AH9 is way too agile currently, there is no realistic flying model, the chopper is able to make continuous spin without losing altitude, speed, without having any inertia effect.

Mass close.
