Mise:
Attempted -nobenchmark on various attempts to launch my game
Tried -Noworld=true
Tried without Xfire
Verified steam cache & tried developer branch, nothing has worked thus far.

Zone Alarm is probably causing this issue :

Try this :

  • Load up the task manager and go to "services" tab
  • scroll down till you see "IswSvc", click on it and then click the services button on the bottom right
  • Scroll down in the new window till you see "ZoneAlarm Toolbar IswSvc" and select it
  • Right click and press properties
  • In the "Startup type" drop down select "disabled"
  • Reboot and verify arma3 game files in steam
  • click play, click allow on the ZA pop up and enjoy arma3

Tried that already, all I had was Zone Alarm Forcefield, toolbar wasn't there.

Have you tried uninstalling zone alarm completely?

Sometimes windows won't show the GUI or icon, but the process will still be backgrounded and shown within the Task Manager (ie. taskmgr.exe)

FYI: Arma requires certain TCP and UDP ports to be open.

Can't uninstall Zonealarm without admin, which I currently cannot get access to.

It's not a port problem roger, it's likely Zone Alarm.

Speaking of which, what is the status on getting ArmA 3 more AV friendly?

Please uninstall Zone Alarm and let me know if that helped.

We're currently prioritizing issues that relate to stability and performance of Arma 3,
or issues that affect the majority of players. As for the antivirus softwares,
we've made sure that most of the major programs recognize the Arma 3 application correctly.
Eventually we hope that this will be the case for all (free) antivirus software,
but the quickest way right now would be a registry update by the developers of the antivirus software.

Managed to get the game running after getting admin to use the ZA work around.

I had the Zone Alarm problem too.

Suprised this is still open after all this time.

@SGTIce is the issue solved for you?

Yep, late reply by a year, but yep.

D:\Program files\Steam\SteamApps\common\Arma 3\_CommonRedist\vcredist\2013
At me so, choose the way.
Try to reinstall "vcredist_x64" , "vcredist_x86".
Start these files in turn. The first start choose "removal of appendices". The Second start "installation".
