Game crash tied to Geforce 500 series videocards, DX11 usage, and usually overclocking too.
Closed, ResolvedPublic

Description

I've restored my old factory-OC settings and voltage (from EVGA no less) to test a DX11-related crash to see if Arma 3 suffers from it (considering its use of DX11 and known problems regarding low voltage), and found that it still happens in Arma 3. This is a known GPU-family-wide issue that happens on DX10 and higher (usually a DX11 problem now)

System specs before DXDiag:
Sandy Core i5 2500k stock
EVGA facto-OC GTX 570 (tested on both OC and non OC without voltage tweak)

There may be a need for a DX9 exe for those who are not aware of this rather prevalent issue for Geforce 500-series videocards, or something can be done on the Arma 3 end for this.

DXdiag will follow.

Steps To Reproduce
  • Use a Geforce 500 videocard (preferably with some factory OC), but WITHOUT voltage tweaks
  • Run game
  • Play as normal till game crashes
Additional Information
  • Crash issue is resolved via giving the videocard a little more voltage, vastly different between model types. I know for a fact that most, not all GTX 570's do better on 1.050mv than its set 1.038mv
  • Crash issue does not happen on DX9-based games and applications, only DX10 and higher, for some reason unknown to me.

We need not only dxdiag but also files from this folder to solve your problem: C:\Users\<Name>\AppData\Local\Arma 3 Alpha\

Can you upload it somewhere in winrar package please?
If package is smaller than 5,000k, you can attach it here. Thank you.

File is larger than limit. Sent it to my Dropbox, link as follows:

https://dl.dropbox.com/u/16406541/Arma%203%20Alpha.rar 7.47mb

Give it 5-so minutes from time of this post to upload completely. Arse-end of internet-nowhere and my internet bandwidth is slow compared to most other countries.

@Astaroth it's not valid anymore. Ticket can be closed.
It had nothing to do with ArmA, but was a problem of too low voltage of GPUs that was responsible for the errors.
I had same problem with my GTX 580 back then and increasing its voltage solved the problem.
