The game lags even with good specifications
Closed, ResolvedPublic

Description

The Alpha game lags very much for me when I'm trying CO-OP (5-15 FPS). When I'm in the editor the game lags only when I'm in a vehicle (15-25 FPS). I'm getting less FPS if I lower the resolution from 1280x1024 to 800x600 and set the graphics to low.

I reckon it's dat derr 2.3GHz. If you OC that to 2.5-2.6 it might help.

The min specs were a dual core running at 2.4

Check your drivers to.

Hm. Okey. But it lags more with everything on low. I have my drivers updated to the latest sharped (not BETA) version.

I think putting everything on low puts more stress on your CPU. Playing on higher settings might actually give you better framerates.

Yea. It seems to be so :) But I hope the performance will be greatly improved in the final version.

Also turn your post processing to disabled. That can adversely affect your game play. I'm on stock 3.4 ghz with everything set to ultra and it runs great so far.

I have to admit, my system was lagging and I'm running a AMD FX-8350, 16GB of ripjaw DDR3 and a AMD 7870.... Sorta the same FPS too

I have tried to disable the shadows, Anti-aliasing, Anisotropic filtering, and post processing but still same FPS as I reported.

@ItaliaPRIME

Was does "runs great so far" means from your perspective?

I'm getting around 30 fps in the Editor with only 1 Charakter spawned (me).

We were setting up a 40 player dedicated server (PvP) and it was playable for the most time (around 20-30 fps) but flying around in a helicopter over the map dropped my fps to 10-15.

System:

i7-2600K @stock clocks (3.4-3.8 GHz)
GTX 560 ti @stock clocks (830/1660/2004 MHz)
8 GB RAM @stock clocks (1600 Mhz)

Note: I had the same results in ARMA 2 but with way more characters (AI/Players).

I hope that this issue gets resolved/fixed very soon since it's a funkiller and THE MAJOR PROBLEM of the ARMA series (<- my opinion).

When I am in ground Vehicles my CPU will routinely spike up to 100% causing a momentary freeze. I first noticed it in the Vehicle Showcase, and just tried it in the CoOp Map, wan't nearly as bad but it happens there also.

CPU: Core2 Duo E8500 Clock 3.7
ATI Radeon HD 5870
4GB Ram

I haven't noticed much of a performance hit on foot or in the air showcase.

In many of the co-op missions that we have done, I am seeing similar frames than that of those I Was getting in ARMA 2 missions. I think they are about the same if not better already ans I suspect that they will continue to get enhanced.

If you have a high amount of GPU memory set it to high, it offloads a lot of the CPU workload.

For the rest of that, look into your drivers & your mobos.

From what i've read the game can lag pretty badly after 40 bots.

My Specs:

CPU- Intel i5 3450 stock @ 3.1GHz
GPU- 2x Nvidia 670s in SLI, factory overclocked EVGA (FTW Edition)
MEM- 8GB 1333MHz PC3 10600 @ stock clocks
SSD- Intel 520 Series Cherryvile 120GB

Note: With all setting maxed in the game, running at a resolution of 1920x1200 I average anywhere from 16 to 22 frames per second. While I expect that number to increase with optimized drivers from Nvidia at a later date, it's stunningly low, even for an alpha test. I noted both GPUs at about 50% utilization walking around in-game, seems odd. Hope this info helps.
